About the adventure

More than five hundred years ago, clans of dwarves and gnomes made an agreement known as the Phandelver's Pact, by which they would share a rich mine in a wondrous cavern known as Wave Echo Cave. Times were good, and the nearby human town of Phandalin prospered as well. A powerful force of orcs reinforced by evil mercenary wizards attacked Wave Echo Cave to seize its riches. The ensuing battle destroyed much of the cavern. Few survived the cave-ins and tremors, and the location of Wave Echo Cave was lost. For centuries, rumors of buried riches have attracted treasure seekers and opportunists to the area around Phandalin, but no one has ever succeeded in locating the lost mine. In recent years, people have resettled the area. Phandalin is now a rough-and-tumble frontier town. More important, the Rockseeker brothers—a trio of dwarves—have discovered the entrance to Wave Echo Cave, and they intend to reopen the mines. Unfortunately for the Rockseekers, they are not the only ones interested in Wave Echo Cave. A mysterious villain known as the Black Spider controls a network of bandit gangs and goblin tribes in the area, and his agents have followed the Rockseekers to their prize. Now the Black Spider wants Wave Echo Cave for himself, and he is taking steps to make sure no one else knows where it is.

Character creation

Creating your character

During the session zero we will create the character sheets together but it would be helpful to have the backstories for each character made prior to the session. There will also be time between the session zero and the first session in order to shore up any details that need to be.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Ensure that you have a Roll20.net account and a discord account. We will primarily use Roll20 for audio but discord would be a backup if there are any technical difficulties

What Kyle brings to the table

I generally try to stick to Rules as Written but I do employ the Rule of Cool as needed. This is for enjoyment at the end of the day and I am here to ensure you are getting the experience you are paying for. The rules are guidelines and I do follow them until a situation calls for a change. Ultimately it will be a group decision to alter things. My input is not an end all be all and you will have control over this game.

Homebrew rules

All homebrew rules will be decided on at session zero. There will be few forced rules and it will be voted on by the group and the group does reserve the right to override even my preferred way of dming to a point to ensure that my players are getting the experience that they are paying for. You may bring some that I have not heard of as well!

Safety

How Kyle creates a safe table

I will be providing a link to a brief anonymous survey once a group is formed to be filled out before a session zero for any preferences that you would like to happen in game or to avoid in game as well as a brief questionnaire to ensure that all player types are welcome and compatible with one another before we even get to session zero.
