About the adventure

All of you have come to find yourselves in dire straits. You may have met a loan shark, lost everything to the nobility or crooked lawyers. Perhaps you have never had anything to begin with. Regardless, you are now stuck here. In the streets that everyone has forgotten. The gutters. You all are like many in this horrid situation. Gutter rats with no future. Forced to hide out here until your meek existence runs out, or have a liaison to link you with higher paying clients. No one wants you due to your horrendous record, at least, no respectable person. That is, until you are picked up through candidate selection by your new manager, Mordecai. This might be your only chance to get out of this hell hole. What will you do to survive?

About me

I have been DMing for 20 years and still love this game! D&D is a great opportunity to shape a story with your friends and have fun with an adventure that you make yourself. I fully believe that the job of a DM is to be a narrator and not storyteller. The DM tells you what is around you and might even present some options, but at the end of the day it is the players who make the decisions and shape the story line. I have ran too many systems to count, but love D&D 5e since it is a great blend of 3.5 and 1st ed. As a DM, I am always pushing myself to make my talents improve and create a better game for you. This may involve practicing at voices, improving my tech, or just making things look nicer. If you are interested in getting a game going, I would love to work with you and am open to direct messages to get a game sorted out. I hope to see you in game and enjoy the wonderful game of D&D together.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will be using 2014 rules for D&D. You will all be level 1 and everything will be done on Foundry. if you have DnD beyond you can use Beyond20 to transfer/use the character on Foundry, BUT IT IS EASIER TO JUST ADJUST CHARACTERS IF FOUNDRY. If you use Beyond20 please give me a link to your character so I can see/observe them. I have not used Beyond20 however, so I would not be able to help guide you. If you want to make a character come with a concept, otherwise I have 44 pre-made characters for use. All legal material is welcome, just let me know if you are using anything from newer books so I can have it integrated into the system before we start. Also, if you want to make a character or use skills use the book in the top right (compendium) on foundry to find and drag over the desired item. It makes things easier, but only holds basic phb stuff in it. To roll stats, roll 4d6 and drop the lowest (1+3+5+6=14).

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Have a mic, a forge account (free) and do your best to remember important rules when they are told. You will not need to bring a pre-made character sheet or have your own dice. Foundry provides it all, so just be ready to play and learn as you go. If you have a token or image that you want your character to look like, then just have it ready and let me know!

What Kyle Carter (Wizo)🧙‍♂️ brings to the table

I will provide maps, voices, and over 100 tracks along with my technical expertise on how to help you if there are IT issues. There are a few homebrew documents I have as well. a 100+ page document on custom items designed to add options and help shore up the weaknesses that are inherent to certain classes, along with a few other homebrew options. Not many beyond the character creation, but if you have a theme or path that you want to go down I have no problem with my experience creating something for you. Smithing and learning traits from books are two great examples. Lastly I will provide a discord server and a forge server for us to use foundry on.

Homebrew rules

Using a potion on yourself is a bonus action. You will as a bonus action be able to identify aspects of a creature. Once all aspects are identified, Health bars will be revealed and I will roll openly. This allows for statblocks to be... varied. When using items I have a document made with additional items. The document is around 150 pages. Lastly, if you have a subclass desire, we can work it out. I have made about 12 different subclasses before and am fine to talk with you about options.

Safety

How Kyle Carter (Wizo)🧙‍♂️ creates a safe table

To allow a smooth style of play. We will after the end debrief on how things went, if you have questions on what could have happened, and give that transition from game back to real life. As you can see, there will be lines and veils addressed before we play (gore, death, how to handle conflict etc) and what we will/will not go into. Lastly there is an open door policy. I would ask that if you are concerned about something to talk to me first to resolve the problem, but if you have to leave due to real life or any other issue we understand.
