About the adventure
**Drakkenheim is no more.** What remains is a ruined city wrapped in arcane haze, shattered by a fallen meteor, and fought over by rival factions who all believe the future belongs to them. This campaign is set in *Dungeons of Drakkenheim*, a dark fantasy setting where politics, survival, and forbidden magic are just as dangerous as the monsters in the streets. This game blends **faction intrigue** with **eldritch horror ** and ** body horror**. Your characters will navigate shifting alliances, make difficult moral choices, and face the physical and psychological consequences of exposure to a corrupted world. No faction is purely good or evil, and success often comes at a cost. Despite the grim setting, the tone at the table is not relentlessly bleak. Moments of humor, bad ideas, and unexpected levity are welcome—and often necessary—to balance the tension. Think gallows humor in the face of disaster: serious consequences, but room to laugh when plans go wrong (and they will). This game is for players who enjoy **roleplay, character-driven stories, and meaningful choices**. Tactical combat is present, but decisions outside of combat matter just as much. New and experienced players are welcome, as long as you’re interested in engaging with the world, the factions, and each other. Drakkenheim rewards curiosity and courage—but it remembers every choice you make.

About me
Hello! My name is Chuck, and I’ve been GM-ing and playing TTRPGs for about six years. As an experienced improviser trained through the Second City Conservatory Program, I especially love the collaborative nature of TTRPGs. Working with my party to build satisfying stories and compelling character arcs is one of my greatest joys. While I mostly play D&D, I’ve recently been branching out into other systems like Pathfinder, City of Mist, and Call of Cthulhu. I’m currently in the final year of my MFA in Film, which follows my MA in Film Studies. I’ve loved creating and telling stories since I was a kid, back when I filled my math notebook with fantasy tales instead of working on the Pythagorean theorem (sorry, Mrs. Greenfield). Storytelling in all its forms has always been a passion of mine. TTRPGs are first and foremost about having fun, and I can’t wait to get rolling. Oh, and there will always be puns, and I’m not sorry.

Creating your character
Any officially released character options and classes are allowed. Each official class has access to a Drakkenheim-themed subclass, as well as the brand-new Apothecary class, which I can provide on Roll20. Create a level 3 character. You may begin the campaign with one uncommon and one common magic item. We will hold a Session 0 to finalize characters, establish party connections, and flesh out backstories. A Reason to Enter the Ruins: Drakkenheim is an extraordinarily dangerous place, and no one enters the fallen city without a compelling reason. What draws your character into the ruins—revenge, a lost loved one, a stolen heirloom, forbidden knowledge, or the study of delerium itself? Having a clear motivation will greatly enrich your experience in the campaign.

How Chuck the GM creates a safe table
Your fun and comfort at the table are my top priority. Here’s how I keep the game safe for everyone: Lines & Veils Document: I’ll send out a digital Lines & Veils form before the game so players can set clear boundaries on content. Session 0 Check-In: We’ll take 10–15 minutes before the adventure to review table expectations, discuss comfort levels, and establish the tone. X, N, & O Cards: I use a digital tool: players can send a private message, or if we’re on video, use the hand signals/cards system. This enables quick and discreet communication in the moment. Aftercare: At the end of the session, I’ll lead a brief debrief to create space for highlighting key points, checking in, and addressing any concerns, ensuring everyone leaves on a positive note. My goal is to create a safe, inclusive space where the story can be wild, the action chaotic, but the players are always respected.
