About the adventure
This game is perfect for beginners and experienced players alike! Our campaign will run from levels 1-5. It will take place in the world of Midgard, in a region known as the Southlands, which is based on North African culture, history, and geography. The adventure will primarily take place in the sprawling city of Per-Bastet. Full of intrigue, mystery, and sand, it's a city overshadowed by pyramids, providing the perfect backdrop for a race to recover an ancient artifact, said to be created by Bastet herself. Depending on what you and your party decide, this artifact has the power to either make you rich beyond your wildest dreams or bring the city to its knees.

Meet the Game Master
About me
Back in the day, I played AD&D every Sunday at noon. The DMs were two brothers who took turns. I had never really been friends with them before that. We played until dinner. We were into it. I played Felris Quickfingers, Svirfneblin Jester. I could never figure out how anyone DMed the game and I never cared to learn. The same could be said for working in a middle school, which I had also sworn off ever doing, but found myself doing one day. I started social groups using DnD and Pathfinder. It was awesome teaching kids DnD and building relationships that way. Eventually, I switched to playing with friends and family during the pandemic. Now, I DM almost exclusively. I foolishly thought I would DM to inspire my players to also become DMs. In the meantime, I discovered I love the range of creativity this hobby brings out in us all, and all the ways it brings people together.
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
Character creation will combine the 2024 D&D rules with the Southlands Player's Guide from Kobold Press. If you have these materials paid for in Roll 20 and would like to create a character using their Characters tool, go for it! If you do not own these things, including the D&D 2024 handbook, please wait. We will hold a Session Zero, where we will meet each other, talk about the setting and characters, and create our characters and backstories, and I prefer to be there to help with the mic instead of DMing back and forth.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
I will send you invites to Discord and the virtual tabletop Roll20. If you do not yet have accounts on those websites, doing so is free, and doing so before you get the links is not necessary.
What Jake Ware brings to the table
I find music too distracting, I try very hard to do voices with varying effect. I am an educator and I stick to rules the best I can. I am very punctual and end on time, usually with some kind of cliffhanger. Most of all, expect patience. I have maps, handouts, and all sorts of tools on Roll20 to make the experience as immersive as possible.
Homebrew rules
I use 2024 rules as closely as possible, and we will be using the rules expansion for the world of Midgard. I don't care about spell components or keeping track of arrows, but I won't stop you if you want to.

How Jake Ware creates a safe table
I usually ask people to tell me during Session Zero or message me if the group shouldn't know about it. People are free to come and go at their own comfortability.
