About the adventure
Spire: The City Must Fall is an dark fantasy rpg set in a mile high city held together by occult magic and reforged technology. It is a hierarchical society built on the scarred backs of dark elves who live in mostly in the undercity due to the graces of their cruel masters. After a brutal war some 200 years ago the dark elves or drow now must pay a "durance" to have the privilege to live in Spire. When a drow comes of age, usually at 16, they are assigned to an aelfir lord to serve them and their family for 4 years. Once completed they are released to the city to fend for themselves. For 200 years high elves or as they are known the aelfir, have ruled over the drow. For 200 years the drow have been the labor and exploited class toiling through the body of Spire while concentrated in the lower levels of its massive shadow. Until now! You will play as a drow part of a secret organization known as the Ministry. Sworn to a clandestine double life you serve the Hidden Lady, the dark side of the moon. She seeks vengeance against those who have wronged the drow and to right the cruelty of these 200 years. You can trust no one. Your own family could turn you in for a better position in Spire. Your own comrades could turn the knife. As a faction brewing rebellion your goals are singular, bring an end to the oppression of the drow. Bring down the aelfir. The city must fall!

About me
I'm a queer, POC GM who's been running various games starting in D&D 3.5e/5e for around 15 years now. My various interests have led to breaking into Lancer, Blade in the Dark, CAIN, and Spire! (And anything else I can get my cold hands on) It started with trying D&D with friends growing up and in those days there weren't many who wanted to GM. I happened to like reading rules so it all fell into place. What I fell in love with was the role play actually and torturing my friends, but only in the ways they could handle. Building a story together became a past time, whether I had a game running or not I became possessed by the narrative spirit and haven't stopped ever since!

Creating your character
Before we begin it would be best to have the characters created before hand so we can hit the ground rolling dice. I will provide a walk through of how to make a character, as well as the fill-able character sheet pdf, and bond questions between players will be handled via a group chat most likely in discord. I will also give a primer to the fiction for any new players in the chat so they have some idea of the world.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
I will have a VTT server via Foundry set up and ready to go for each of the players before hand once the characters are created and the sheets are in my possession. For those unfamiliar with Foundry it may help to watch the intro video on their youtube channel but fear not! I will also answer any questions and guide new players through the UI.
What Moose brings to the table
There will be a combination of ambience and character voices. As the game is fairly theater of the mind there will be art images to help visualize the fiction. Rules are generally applied as written buuuut that doesn't mean there isn't wiggle room in certain situations if the players make a compelling case for an improved experience. Expect to have some fun and some danger while possibly falling into a love hate relationship with the villains!

How Moose creates a safe table
During a Session 0 we will outline the themes, content and warnings related to Spire in particular and what will take place in the forthcoming play. It is a heavy fiction with a lot of dark themes, generally bleak and cruel. Thus I advise, as I do with any system, using an X in chat or directly messaged to me for stopping play for any reason and give the group a chance to talk through what's going on while checking how everyone is feeling. I also explain what is a hard line and what is a veil i.e. content a player isn't comfortable experiencing versus content that is a bit more gray and that they'd be willing to explore at a slow pace.
