About the adventure
[ 50% off your 1st session! ] Multi-session long campaign. Estimated 15–30 sessions, depending on player choices and pacing. No prior Coriolis experience required—just curiosity, courage, and a willingness to choose sides. 💥 “I press back against the bulkhead, eyes watering from the smoke. My boot heel crunches another of those bloody blight spiders. Somewhere ahead, a Coriolite assassin lines up another shot—and I can’t help thinking how a quiet funeral for a fellow Guild Explorer we barely knew led us to this moment.” 🌺 FLOWERS OF ALGORAB Welcome to the Hammurabi Arm, a dangerous frontier of the Lost Horizon (a connected expanse of star systems) where beauty, profit, and death intertwine. In the Gahand system, vast crimson gas clouds hide rare biological phenomena known as the Flowers of Algorab—exotic lifeforms whose properties could change the future of humanity in the Great Dark. Your latest slipstream jump places your ship and crew amid escalating tensions. The Mining Combine and the Sharzad Collective battle for control of the cloud lanes. Wreckers prey on shipping routes. A growing rebel movement, Free Gahand, calls for independence from Ship City (an asteroid megastructure). Meanwhile, the Gardeners Guild pursues its own quiet agenda, risking everything to study—and protect—the living wonders hidden in the clouds. As members of the Explorers Guild—or as smugglers, scientists, or hired troubleshooters—you will: - Navigate lethal ether storms and unstable gas lanes - Deal with rival factions, secret patrons, and shifting loyalties - Explore remote outposts, drifting stations, and forbidden depths - Decide whether Algorab’s wonders are meant to be harvested, hidden, or destroyed Every choice leaves a mark. In Gahand, even survival is political. 🪐 The Great Dark Humanity fled the collapse of the Third Horizon aboard colossal Great Ships, following an ancient signal into the unknown. In this Lost Horizon, survival depends on what can be reclaimed from strange worlds and their ancient alien “Builder” ruins. Ship City—an asteroid megastructure built from fused Great Ships—endures only through the efforts of explorers like you. Resources are scarce. Hope is fragile. And the Great Dark watches patiently as humanity tests its limits once again. ⚙️ System Overview You play a crew of space explorers, much like a 19th-century expedition, pushing into dangerous unknowns, uncovering ancient ruins, and trying to survive the journey home. "Coriolis: The Great Dark" uses a fast, narrative D6 dice-pool system. Roll Attribute + Skill dice; every 6 is a success. You may push your roll, but doing so risks Despair, draining your Hope and inviting consequences. - Injuries reduce Health - Exposure to Blight (think alien radiation) corrupts body and mind - Supplies, air, and trust are never guaranteed The game blends exploration, survival, faction politics, and creeping existential horror—where progress always has a cost.

About me
Greetings and Salutations! Thank you for taking the time to view my profile. SOCIAL LINKS : https://bio.link/fatherj I am FatherJ from the Northeast United States. I really enjoy RPGs from Free League Publishing and the Year Zero Engine. I would love to run one of their games for you! Eastern Time Zone EST: UTC−05:00 standard [ EDT: UTC−04:00 daylight savings] I have been playing many different Table Top Role-Playing Games (TTRPGs) for 15 years, 13 years as GM. I have run hundreds of sessions in over a dozen different science fiction and fantasy RPG systems for an equally wide variety of people in person, at gaming clubs, at gaming stores and online. I have been running online games since 2023. I have 5 children and 4 cats. My day job is in the Information Technology field. My main goal is to have fun games where my players can feel comfortable and become invested in. Nothing makes me feel happier in RPGs than listening to my players enthusiastically recount the tales we have created together. My focus is to share my love for Free League games (Year Zero Engine) by providing people the opportunity to play these wonderful games online. Real life situations had caused a gap in my gaming, but I was inspired by running into Free League Publishing games to get back into TTRPGs two years ago. I have come to StartPlaying looking to run some serious and/or seriously fun sessions. I want to see what I can add to this community! My story telling style is light and flows easy. I do not let the mechanics detract from the experience, but use them to enhance the story you want to be told! I love GMing online. The amount of tools available to online play really enhance the game, in my opinion. I know Foundry VTT pretty well, and I would be more than happy to help teach new and seasoned players alike how good online play can be. Beginner and LGBT+ Friendly. I have taught new systems to new players. I enjoy the experience. We were all new players, or new to a system, at one time.
