About the adventure

Set in a home-brewed sandbox, this is a player-driven, open-world campaign where characters serve as officially sanctioned Magistrates—adventurers and trusted agents empowered to investigate threats, resolve disputes, and undertake missions on behalf of the state. Based out of the Magistrate Office, players choose their assignments as a party, shape political outcomes, and influence the world as a collective, through the authority and perspective of their chosen Order. As a newly formed group of magistrates you will take on missions, explore the world and tell your story. (Questing, adventuring guild, quest of the week, style sandbox gameplay until your choices shape a larger tale) Further breakdown and description of the 7 orders and their roles will be available once you join the game and begin character creation. If you are interested or have any questions please feel free to reach out! - Thanks!

Meet the Game Master

Less than a year on StartPlaying

About me

I have been a game master on and off for about 15 years, mostly with in-person groups of family and friends as the forever gm. However as I’ve gotten older and my friends move away and start to build families it’s been harder and harder to make time for the games I love. So I’ve turned to the online gaming space over the last couple of years I’ve ran a few games on Roll20 and met some cool people and stumbled into a few pitfalls of finding people online, and learned how to adjust the craft of game mastering to the new tools and environment of the internet. I’m a very visual listener and storyteller and that’s one thing I’ve began to love about playing with virtual tabletops is the ability to share images and set scenes with music and soundscapes that can really immerse you into the moment. I prefer sandbox style games and always want engaged players to tell their own stories, I love including player material backstories NPCs, lore, whatever I can get my hands on from other players I try to incorporate into the worlds I play with. Right now I mostly play DnD 5e and will be running my main game with that rule set, but I have dabbled with some other systems like starfinder and call of Cthulhu In my games I welcome both new players and experienced players and my ideal table would include both. I really enjoy the dynamic that develops with the awe of first discovery and the wisdom of years of play.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will happen at session 0 and be done online using the virtual tabletop “Foundry” We will be starting and creating characters at level 2 All dice rolling and stat generation will be done online together However once you join the discord and check out the extra info, I encourage you to start thinking about a character concept and background, and possibly bounce ideas around with the other players in the discord. What class are you interested in trying? Do your characters know each other? Or maybe they are related? If you have any ideas or questions for me at any point please feel free to reach out, I’m always open to talk shop, character backgrounds, lore, ideas, whatever it might be!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will be using Discord and “Foundry VTT” as a player you just need a web browser to join. Join the discord, there will be all the info and resources you need in there, if you have any questions feel free to reach out at any time!

What Nilla brings to the table

I’m a very visual person so I like to setup scenes with character art and images of the area, landscapes; buildings, anything I can to set the scene. I usually try to voice act with all my NPC’s but don’t promise professional level radio voice lol. Just something other than my regular voice so you can tell who’s speaking I plan on using some music and soundscapes to help set the mood and tone of the moment. I usually run my games with consistent “rules as written” gameplay but the “rule of cool” is important and I’m always open to bending them especially if it fits the narrative. I enjoy crunchy tactical combat myself, and combat should have an important place in this style of game; but it’s equally as important to me as RP. At session 0 I intend to go through safety guidelines and important social rules to make sure everyone can have a safe and enjoyable experience.
