About the adventure

The New Year. 2026. Over a quarter century after the world was meant to end. Gehenna, the fiery death of Kindred and Kine that has been dreaded for centuries, now seems like another in a long string of broken promises. Instead of a fiery death, the world of the undead is dying by inches. A camera in every pocket and every street corner has left the Masquerade permanently endangered. Advents in information exchange has made the world bigger than it ever was before. And political unrest tears through the world of mortals and Kindred alike. The powder keg is set, the fuse is lit, and the world is ready to blow. New York is no exception. As Prince Solomon enters the twentieth year of her Praxis, a group of licks in the Barony of Queens plan to make it her last. Tired of living under conservatorship, many Anarchs look to create another Free State in New York, no matter how much needs spilled to get there. You are one of these malcontents, whether motivated by personal gain, old grudges, or authentic idealism. Well established within the Anarch movement, you've found yourself embroiled in a conspiracy to destroy the Tower's hold on Manhattan, and repeat the successes of the Second Anarch Revolt. New York by Night: Kingbreakers is a story-focused V5 chronicle with sandbox elements. The primary focus of the narrative will center around a conspiracy against the Camarilla of Manhattan, with side plots weaving in your personal narratives and backgrounds. This will be a mid-level game (young Ancillae), built around themes of ambition, community, and cycles of violence. Vampire: the Masquerade is a complex game with a dark narrative where we pretend to be monsters, but I expect my players to act appropriately. Racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, and other exclusionary behaviors will not be tolerated. Generally acting creepy, rude, or inconsiderate of other players is similarly unacceptable. Interested players should fill out the application below- I'm excited to hear from you!

About me

Heya! I'm Gant, a transfemme writer, amateur musician, and experienced storyteller with a character oriented, sandbox-y approach to games- I follow the old GM advice "write settings and situations, not stories". I believe in player agency and the creative strengths of improv, and I'm a passionate, if slightly sadistic storyteller who thrives best in systems that lean on gothic horror tropes (read: VAMPIRE THE MASQUERADE). Don't worry though, like all good ST's, I want my players to succeed! I just want it to be earned with a little blood along the path. I am well versed in picking up groups online, and have a multi-stage application process for any game that filters the wierdos. I'm super open to players from all walks of life, but tend to form primarily queer groups, as they often have a unique perspective that will appreciate my styling of horror. Overall- If you like stories that lay moral quandaries on the characters, short brutal combats, ultraviolence with (a LOT) of gore, worlds that are built up around the characters, and VAMPIRES VAMPIRES VAMPIRES then I'm probably the perfect ST for you!

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will be a combination of 1 on 1 conversations with me and a shared session 0 where we make sure we've created a cohesive coterie/gang. Feel free to come with existing concepts, as long as you are ready to adjust them to fit the world.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A basic familiarity with Vampire 5th edition will take you far. Familiarity with Roll20 or Foundry is a plus but not required. Please read the lore I provide!

What Gant brings to the table

I am a RP first storyteller, but I do utilize visuals, edited into a cohesive style for each game. I offer lore-rich worlds and personalized play experience that puts players at the forefront of the plot.

Homebrew rules

Mostly stick to the rules, with a few minor tweaks around Disciplines and certain systems of the blood. We will be utilizing a modified version of Blood Sympathy from VtR

Safety

How Gant creates a safe table

We will create a shared Lines and Veils document in session 0. I use a messaged X card system, but also provide a digital variant. I take player safety very seriously and will not hesitate to kick non-compliant players.
