Meet the Game Master
About me
Hi, I'm Seán. A game master of 7+ years and a TTRPGer for over 10 at this point. Since the panini I've bounced between jobs a fair bit as many have, and have recently decided to try giving running public games a shot in hopes of being able to step away from traditional employment. I'm a big ol Tolkien and fantasy nerd, favourite books, games, shows and movies include LOTR, The Dresden Files, Avatar the Last Airbender, Fullmetal Alchemist, The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age. I live in the Scottish borders, a little while out from Edinburgh. So while I'll mostly be running games online, get in touch if you'd like to arrange an in person game!

Creating your character
We can create characters on Pathbuilder and Foundry VTT, an app similar to roll20. The link to which will be posted in the discord before the session starts. Players will start at level 1 for the first session, with later sessions starting at higher level. You don't need to bring a character, just a rough concept. Do you want to be an archer, shooting arrows from afar? A warrior protecting the party? A healer keeping the party alive and healthy? Or, do you want to be casting spells, and mastering the arcane arts? this will give us a place to start and we can hone in on exactly what to do from there. If you aren't sure, I'll provide some pre-generated characters for you to choose from. You may wish to prepare your character ahead of time through Pathbuilder, but I will be able to tutorial the process for new players.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You won't need to bring anything, just a good microphone and a discord account made at least 10 minutes before joining the game. Foundry is browser based, locally hosted on my own server and is always online. Webcams are optional.
What Seán brings to the table
I'll be providing foundry, a community discord with mod team and discord bots, as well as my own library containing all existing PF2e rulebooks which are visible as PDFs in the Foundry App. Foundry also has all game rules, ancestries, backgrounds, classes, items, and spells preloaded in the world. We'll also make use of a number of digital tools in foundry such as digital dice and a number of optional settings to make the gaming experience easier.

Safety
How Seán creates a safe table
We'll discuss the safety tools at session zero, as well as at the start and end of each session as necessary to ensure we're all on the same page. Most of our safety tools are automated through foundry, and I try to encourage a casual, relaxed environment where people feel comfortable. This often includes talking about what we all got up to during the week, if anyone has seen any good shows or movies, and generally "warming up" the space with some light conversation before we get into rolling dice. Session zero will consist of Character creation, sharing of the google doc and topics therein, we'll also go over the use of X cards in Foundry VTT as well as a basic primer for anyone new to the foundry system. We'll also cover helpful tips, links, and tools to help you prepare for your first steps into Pathfinder 2e. After session zero, for the first half hour of each game we'll take some time to go over a few documents, including campaign notes, homebrew rules, RPG consent lists, as well as lines and veils. Everything will be accessible via shared google document that anyone can edit and will be pinned in the group discord channel. To get the Discord Link, please message me through the StartPlaying app. I'll do my best to respond as soon as I can.
