About the adventure

A haunting beacon draws adventurers into a legendary adventure, beneath the ruins of Gauntlight Keep. A hundred years ago, the evil sorcererss Belcorra Haruvex used this site in her attempt to raise an army of foul monstrosities. What secrets, what dangers, and what treasures migh still lie undiscovered among the remains of her vile experiments? "Abomination Vaults" is a classic dungeon crawl adventure, with an endless array of new monsters, traps, and hazards to challenge the players. A familiar D&D experience with the sleek and streamlined mechanics of Pathfinder's newest edition. This is a 1st to 10th level Pathfinder 2nd Edition adventure, and will be played weekly over Foundry VTT and Discord.

About me

Greetings, adventurers. My name is George, and I have been immersing myself in TTRPGs since around 2001. My journey into the realm of Game Mastering took a serious turn with the release of Pathfinder. My background in theatre, history, and education has been instrumental in shaping my GM style, which emphasizes dramatic conflict, challenging decisions, and character development. I’ve had the pleasure of engaging with a diverse and international player population, both online and in person. This experience has enriched my understanding of the game and its global appeal. The games I run are primarily drawn from official Paizo publications for Pathfinder, supplemented by key resources from publishers like Kobold Press and Sly Flourish. In each campaign, I make it a point to engage with the player characters’ backgrounds. This begins with a session zero where we collaboratively create characters that align with the theme of the campaign. Each campaign I run is a unique world unto itself. I strive to create a distinctive and consistent atmosphere for each one, whether it’s the dark and grim tone of a horror campaign or the epic battles of a high fantasy adventure. Some campaigns may include unique mechanics tailored to their theme. My games, even when played remotely online, aim to emulate the feel of a traditional tabletop experience as much as possible. I prefer to keep technology from overwhelming the gameplay, allowing us to focus on the human elements of the game - the people around our virtual table. I am always available to answer questions through this site. If you have any doubts before signing up for a session, please contact me. I am always eager to hear from established parties who are looking for a new GM. Whether you have already been gaming together, or you are a group of friends, coworkers, or a family group, I would love to embark on an adventure with you. I am also open to requests from existing/ongoing groups for a specific campaign for your party. Whether you have a published module in mind or just an idea that you’d like to develop, I’m here to help you play the game you want to play! Remember, the essence of tabletop gaming is to have fun and create memorable stories together. Let’s roll the dice!

Character creation

Creating your character

We will have a session zero to discuss creating a cohesive party with a shared backstory. Characters will be created on Foundry VTT, using the built-in tools and character sheet. I encourage all players to choose the campaign specific backgrounds that appear in the player guide for this module. The adventure begins at 1st level - players who join later will join the party at its current level. We will be using the free archetype optional rule.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A good quality microphone (preferably a headset) is required to use Discord. I also strongly encourage players to use video during games. Games using video conferencing are usually more enjoyable for all parties, as video prevents misunderstandings and miscommunication. In addition you will need (free) accounts for Discord and Forge - the site hosting our Foundry VTT session.

What George brings to the table

All handouts, maps, art, and character-building resources will be provided electronicaly either through Foundry or Discord. The Foundry module for this adventure is spectacularly well produced, and should provide a smooth and immersive experience.

Homebrew rules

We will be using the Free Archetype Optional Rule and the Gradual Ability Boost Optional Rule.

Safety

How George creates a safe table

In addition to the content warnings above, the campaign may touch on issues of scientific experimentation on humanoid subjects, ableism, and suicide. During session zero we will discuss our individual preferences about how to handle sensitive content, and establish tools that we can use to ensure that everybody feels safe and comfortable at the table. No behaviour or language that makes other players feel unwelcome, unsafe, or unable to participate in the game will be tolerated.
