About the adventure
"Trapped, Thaliost. Aundairian. Being watched. Proof of Silver Flame overreach, Treaty violations. Extraction needed. Urgent. Can’t explain. Need out now. Regent Street. Bluejay. Whiskers. Bulwark." Every midnight for the last three weeks, a Sending spell has reached out to a different resident of the Aundairian border village of Askelios. The message is always the same: a frightened woman's voice claiming to be an Aundairian citizen trapped inside Thaliost, calling for rescue. She offers proof of Silver Flame overreach, even violations of the Treaty of Thronehold. Thaliost has been under Thrane control since the Last War, and any unauthorized contact across that border is dangerous. Local officials won’t touch this. No one speaks of the messages openly. But whispers are inevitable. If the message is real, it’s explosive. If it’s a lie, it could be a trap. The sender is running out of time. They say they’re being watched. They can’t explain more. They need extraction immediately. This mission will require slipping into a powder keg of a city, finding the sender, vetting their information, then getting them out alive without triggering an international incident. An inconspicuous, unaligned team of unknown figures is needed.

About me
Hi, I’m Brandon! I’ve been playing TTRPGs for 20 years... well, really much longer than that if you include tiny cameos in my dad's games in the 90's! 😆 But yes, I've been playing D&D since 3rd Edition, and DMing for the better part of 10 years now. I enjoy playing other systems, as well as modifying the D&D system to fit nontraditional settings. I have a degree in game design with a focus on level design, technical art, and environment art. With that comes a passion for mechanics and design, for crafting challenges and encouraging creative gameplay... and also for being surprised when emergent play catches you off-guard. I’m currently running two longform D&D campaigns on Roll20/Discord.

Creating your character
Character creation should take place before our session begins. Once you have joined the Discord, we will setup content sharing so that you can have the full range of options for character creation through D&D Beyond. Characters should all have a reason to be part of a group that is motivated to act on behalf of Aundair or against Thrane. Characters will start at level 3. Stats will be determined using either Point Buy or Standard Array. Every character will start with one Uncommon magic item.

Welcome to our Eberron one-shot, Midnight Message! I’m excited to talk more with you about your character and your gameplay preferences, so let’s kick things off! In order to get started, you’re going to want to join our Discord server and our Roll20 game server, links for which will be provided when you sign up for this adventure. You will also want to create a free account on D&D Beyond. I can share content with you through our Campaign there once we can chat on Discord.

How Brandon // Arcade Abyssal creates a safe table
We will be using Lines & Veils, and be discussing that those before the game begins. I provide aftercare with an open door policy, and by making myself available for at least 15 minutes before and after every game session to speak publicly or privately. I allow for X-cards to be messaged privately or called out over voice/video at any time. I also prefer to employ debriefing and Stars & Wishes for as many players as would like to engage on that level.
