About the adventure
Welcome to the Ironbound Islands, a rugged archipelago where the legacy of ancient empires still stains the earth. Your journey begins in Osprey Cove, a remote fishing village nestled in the shadow of a prehistoric monument known as Rusthenge. For generations, these jagged, rusted spires have stood silent. Now, a strange metallic blight has begun to seep into the land, hinting at a long-forgotten evil stirring within the ruins. This campaign is designed to be highly accessible. It is the perfect entry point for those new to Pathfinder 2e while remaining deeply engaging for seasoned veterans. For new players, this is a supportive environment to master the three action economy and character customization. For experienced players, Rusthenge offers a refreshing and thematic challenge with unique rust magic and tactical encounters that reward system mastery. Whether you are learning the ropes or looking for a tight, atmospheric adventure, you will find a home at this table. The game will be conducted entirely asynchronously via Discord in a play by post format. This allows you to participate on your own schedule while engaging in detailed, turn based combat and immersive roleplay. This format is a fantastic way to learn the system because it removes the pressure of a live table. You will have the time to look up rules, read through your abilities, and craft thoughtful, immersive posts at your own pace. This is a focused, high stakes adventure that will take characters from level 1 to level 4. It is a complete story arc that serves as a fantastic introduction to the world of Golarion. Please only join if you are ready to commit to a consistent posting pace and a collaborative storytelling experience. The cost is $10 per week. Throughout the adventure, you will explore the mystery of the rusted spires, navigate the social dynamics of Osprey Cove, and battle guardians warped by ancient alchemical corruption. Expect a mix of classic dungeon crawling, eerie exploration, and tactical combat that rewards teamwork and creativity. We will delve into the deep history of the region and the strange powers that have lain dormant within Rusthenge for millennia. If you have been looking for a chance to dive into Pathfinder 2e, whether it is your first time or your fiftieth, this is the campaign for you. I look forward to guiding you through the jagged shadows and ancient secrets of Rusthenge. Let us delve into the rusted ruins together!

Creating your character
CHARACTER CREATION PROCESS: Character creation will take place before our adventure officially begins. Once you have been accepted into the Discord, we will use a dedicated channel to discuss party composition and character concepts. This allows us to build a balanced team and ensures that everyone has a unique role to play in the story. We will take the time to make sure everyone is ready and comfortable with their builds before the first post of the campaign. SYSTEMS AND SOFTWARE: We are using the Pathfinder 2e Remastered rules for this campaign. This ensures we have the most up to date mechanics and streamlined gameplay. To build your character, you will need to use the Pathbuilder 2e app or website. This tool is excellent for managing the math and rules of the system. Once your character is complete in Pathbuilder, you will be responsible for importing it into the Kobold bot on Discord yourself. I will provide the specific commands and guidance needed for this process. This allows you to have direct control over your character sheet and ensures you are familiar with how the bot handles your abilities and rolls. STARTING LEVEL AND ATTRIBUTES All characters will begin their journey at level 1. We will determine your attributes using the standard attribute boost system described in the Remastered Core books. You will receive boosts from your ancestry, your background, your class, and your four free boosts at level 1. We will not be rolling for ability scores. This method ensures that all characters are balanced and effective in their chosen roles. It also creates a fair environment for both new players learning the math and veterans who are looking for tactical consistency. ALLOWED BOOKS AND SOURCES The primary sources for this campaign are Player Core 1 and Player Core 2. Most options from these books are automatically approved. If you are interested in using content from other official Pathfinder 2e supplements such as Secrets of Magic, Rage of Elements, or Guns and Gears, please reach out to me. I am generally open to a wide variety of character options as long as they fit the setting. For any options marked as Uncommon or Rare, please check with me first for approval. We will also use the Holy and Unholy sanctification system from the Remastered rules instead of the older alignment system. ASSISTANCE FOR ALL SKILL LEVELS If you are new to Pathfinder 2e, do not worry about the complexity of the system or the bot. I will be available to help you through every step of the creation and importing process. For experienced players, I am happy to discuss more complex character builds and how they fit into the challenges of Rusthenge. The play by post format is excellent for learning and refining character play because it gives us the time to look up rules and explain mechanics without any rush. My goal is to ensure everyone feels confident with their character sheet and the digital tools before we begin the game.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
ACCOUNTS AND SOFTWARE: You will need a Discord account as the entire game will be hosted on a dedicated server. This is where all roleplay, combat, and out of character discussions will take place. Additionally, you need to access Pathbuilder 2e, which is available as a web version or an Android app. Both Discord and Pathbuilder 2e are free to use. These are the primary tools we will use for building and maintaining your character sheet to ensure compatibility with our dice bot. RULES KNOWLEDGE: Because we are using the Pathfinder 2e Remastered rules, it is helpful to familiarize yourself with the basic mechanics. You do not need to purchase any books to play. All official rules, including the Remastered updates, are available for free at the Archives of Nethys website. New players should specifically look over the sections regarding the three action economy and how checks and saving throws work. DISCORD BOT SETUP: Once you have joined the server, you will need to familiarize yourself with the Kobold bot. You do not need to download a separate program for this, as the bot lives within Discord, and it is free to use. You will be responsible for importing your character using your Pathbuilder ID. I will provide a guide within the Discord server that explains the specific commands used for rolling dice and using your abilities. COMMITMENT AND PACE: As this is a play by post game, preparation also involves setting aside time in your daily routine to check the Discord server. While the format is flexible, a consistent pace is what keeps the story moving and the combat engaging. Please ensure you have notifications enabled for Discord so you can respond to prompts and stay involved with the group. NEXT STEPS: After you have your Discord account ready and a character concept in mind, your final step will be to join the campaign link provided upon sign up. Once inside, please introduce yourself in the designated channel. We will then begin the process of finalizing your character and importing your data into the bot. I am available to answer any questions about these steps as you complete them.
What BlackStrum brings to the table
PROFESSIONAL DISCORD ENVIRONMENT: I provide a fully equipped Discord server tailored for immersive play. This includes dedicated channels for the main story, out of character discussions, and technical testing for dice rolls. To help you visualize the world, I maintain a channel for sharing relevant images, NPC portraits, and lore documents. During tactical encounters, I utilize Foundry VTT to manage the battlefields. I will post high-resolution map updates in a dedicated channel so you always have a clear view of the tactical situation, your positioning, and the surrounding terrain. Each player also receives a private channel with me for secret communications, character development, or individual questions. MY GM STYLE: My style is a blend of narrative immersion and tactical depth. While this is an introductory adventure, I enjoy presenting the world with a gritty, atmospheric tone that emphasizes the mystery of the Ironbound Islands. I focus on making the world feel alive through descriptive writing and reactive NPCs who respond to your choices. I follow the Rules as Written for Pathfinder 2e to provide a consistent and fair experience for everyone, but I am always open to the Rule of Cool when it enhances a heroic or creative moment in the story. SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE: For players new to the system, I provide patient and active guidance. I will help you navigate your character abilities, explain combat mechanics as they happen, and ensure you feel comfortable with the digital tools we use. My goal is to teach you the system while we tell a great story together. For veteran players, I provide challenging encounters that reward strategic thinking and efficient use of the three-action economy. CONSISTENCY AND COMMUNICATION: In a play-by-post game, momentum is vital. I provide a consistent presence, moving the story forward and responding to your actions regularly. You can expect clear communication regarding the game pace and any upcoming changes. I am dedicated to maintaining a respectful, collaborative atmosphere where everyone feels welcome to contribute to the narrative. I look forward to bringing the mystery of Rusthenge to life for you!
