About the adventure
For players new to Delta Green. This game is for mature players and is horror themed which forces the players to make an educated, but awful, choice before the adventure ends. Making decisions from a list of terrible options for the betterment of the world and at great personal risk to life and sanity is the premise behind Arc Dream Publishing's Delta Green. It takes place in an alternative modern Earth and blends cosmic horror with X-Files like agents and their allies. If (when) things go wrong, they're on their own. In this introductory adventure, a group of new operatives are sent to clean up after an agent who has died of natural causes to ensure he didn't leave any sensitive information or undisclosed 'personal projects' for his family to discover. Simple enough... right? I'll teach you the basics of the setting and d100 system, let players flesh out their pre-generated characters and then then run you through this 2-4 scene adventure, all over 3-4 hours. Will you accept your fate? I'm new to StartPlaying so this is at half my normal rate. I'll play with as few as 2 players but no more than five.

About me
Greetings fellow gamers, I'm new to StartPlaying, but have been running games for more than 25 years, mostly d20 fantasy. For the last 15 years, I’ve mainly run Pathfinder 1e Adventure Paths for a stable of 20 regular players. I run a mix of monthly and weekly games, as well as limited-run games. Through the support of a kind and dedicated community, I was able to make this a small business during COVID, when I left my career in journalism. I currently run a variety of ongoing games including Pathfinder (1e and 2e), Delta Green, and Call of Cthulhu, and have just kicked off a World of Darkness game (Werewolf). I have run Blades in the Dark, Runequest and Traveller before and would like to play more of these games if interest exists. For the past four years I've supplemented my business with a 5e kids program (Summer camps and afterschool), but no longer have a venue for this. I'm currently looking for adult players for shorter games (1-5 sessions) to work toward forming groups for weekly, bi-weekly or monthly games starting in the New Year (2026) if not sooner. I'm a flexible and responsive GM, adapting to different styles and tones of play as needed. I love when story is king and lean toward narrative over mechanics. I try to be a benevolent GM and say yes to players whenever possible. I want to challenge my players, without punishing them.

Creating your character
I have six pre-generated agents loaded into Roll20, but we'll take some time to go over the sheets and allow players to flesh out any details, or even make minor changes if desired, before we get going. You will be new recruits to "The Program" (the words Delta Green are never spoken and it official does not exist) heading out on your first mission, and it seems too easy at first, almost a waste of time. But when you work for Delta Green, nothing is every as easy as it seems You can choose from: An FBI Agent who can read and manipulate people A brilliant FBI pathologist A Computer Scientist with dangerous interests A private security consultant (Ex military with extensive combat experience) An Anthropologist and amateur photographer, who studies the Occult or an Astrophysicist scarred by an unexplained (by science) experience
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need a Roll20 account and access to Zoom (audio at least, but video if you're comfortable/able. I like to read faces as we play). Otherwise, an interest in a weird, unexplained and a challenge that is far more cerebral and disturbing than necessarily dangerous.
What Dave B brings to the table
I'll have a link at game time for my Syrinescape for those who want an optional additional audio experience.

How Dave B creates a safe table
Straight up, this adventure deals with disturbing subject matter and a moral quandary at the end which the players may spend a great deal of time debating/deciding how to proceed... the choices are ones no one wants to make in real life. Too much information will spoil the climax, but any or all of the issues in the Content warning may come into play, so proceed with caution.
