About the adventure

Flintlock in hand, you aim it at that poor lad across the water, shaking his fist back at you and cursing to the top of his lungs. With a pull of the trigger, you're able to send that shot down range, burrowing into his chest. And this is only just the beginning of the fun... Welcome to The Isles, adventurers, sailors & privateers; your fate is at hand. You find yourself in the lustrous and fabled land of pirating and mercantilism, a land filled with riches and artifacts and stories untold. It will be through your efforts to explore these lands, set sail to distant shores, meet empires, greet powerful people, seek lost artifacts and delve into forgotten ruins. Uncover the secrets of both people and places. Uncover its lost history. Eventually, maybe even you will be able to reunite these scattered isles back to their former glory. This 90% sandbox campaign gives the players the ultimate power of choice and thought to their game. Their next task is always at hand and always have several options in front of them. As well as DM's personal touches to characters and thought-out backstories of major NPCs. The DM will also help players make and anchor themselves into the wider world and is very new-player friendly.

About me

Heyo would be adventurers! I am Freja the DM and GM. I am here to show you a fantastical tale of strife and hardship. Glory and wealth. Plunder and secrets. I have been DM'ing for the better part of 8 years now almost non-stop, practically since I turned 18. And what I can bring to the table? A full world, Archeria, complete with ages of history and epic stories to tell your friends about. A complete pantheon of 28 home-made gods with their own mythos and lore. A complete outer circle of planes. And several regions of the world you will be playing in; Archeria.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players will begin at level 3 unless they join later in the campaign, of which they will be brought up to the players' current level. And they will be created during session 0 via Foundry VTT. All officially published options are available with some additional ones provided by the DM via Google Spreadsheet and a Google Drive with the books. Attributes are handled in a few different ways; you can roll for it via 4d6k3 (keep the three highest rolls), standard array or take a modified point buy which I can explain more on if you join.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players need all of the following; - A Discord account. - A microphone. - A ForgeVTT account (https://forge-vtt.com)

What Freja the DM brings to the table

I have maximum subscriptions to ForgeVTT, a license to FoundryVTT (that ForgeVTT uses), a subscription to Heroforge (for in-game humanoid monster and NPC art), a subscription to Midjourney for art (should you need some on the fly for characters while we get official art elsewhere). I will also be using Midjourney for item art as necessary, and strictly only for item art.

Homebrew rules

All homebrew rules will be reviewed in greater detail during character creation, but they are as follows; - Critical hits double both the dice and the damage modifier. - Swapping weapons/interacting with items has properly defined action economy rules. - Flanking an enemy grants 1d4 of expertise die on the attack roll. - Rolling a natural 1 while attacking through the space of a friendly/ally can result in you attacking them instead. - Fall damage has been increased from 1d6 to 1d10 to make it more deadly for both players and enemies. - Properly defined drowning rules.

Safety

How Freja the DM creates a safe table

BEFORE THE GAME... we will be going over session 0 to get everything squared away and good to go. Here you can express your expectations, my expectations and so forth. We will also be doing the Luxton Discussion Technique. DURING THE GAME... there there are several things you're more than welcome to do. Such as stop the game if things have gone too far, walk away from the "table" if you need a mental break, as well as us taking an official break roughly 2-2.5 hours into each session, including session 0. AFTER THE GAME... I will ask how everyone is doing, allowing people to debrief themselves from the game, especially after a hard fight or other stressful situation. Then, we will go over Stars and Wishes to see what we can improve upon, what we want to see, and what we're doing well in.
