About the adventure
Your witch is dead. Murdered. And you—her loyal familiars—have three days to find her killer and deliver bloody revenge before her soul departs forever. You'll play as small animals with big personalities: a scheming cat, a bitter toad, a one-eyed raven, or perhaps a rat who fancies himself a mastermind. You're tiny, fragile creatures in a world built for humans, where every door is a fortress and every villager could crush you underfoot. But you've got scraps of magic, animal cunning, and a burning need for vengeance. This is a darkly comedic one-shot about absurd plans, spectacular failures, and the unlikely triumphs of determined little creatures. Expect your toad to get punted across a tavern, your cat to manipulate humans through sheer audacity, and your fellowship of familiars to stumble toward revenge through equal parts cleverness and chaos. The rules are simple and fast, designed for collaborative storytelling and creative problem-solving over mechanical crunch. Perfect for players who love quirky characters, dark fairy tale vibes, and games where the journey matters as much as the destination. No experience necessary—just bring your imagination and a willingness to play a very small, very angry animal on a mission.

About me
Greetings, traveler! If you’re on the hunt for a GM who puts story and character front and center, and who prioritizes fun at the table for novices and veterans alike, then hey! Pull up a chair. We might just click. I’ve been GMing for over a quarter of my life—7 years, to be exact. Dungeons & Dragons 5e is my bread and butter, but I’ve got a soft spot for narrative gems like Alice is Missing, The Witch is Dead, and Ten Candles. I usually run games on Roll20 with Discord as a home base for sessions, chatter, and community. While I’m most experienced with sprawling, multi-year campaigns, I adore punchy one-shots and mini-campaigns just as much. My philosophy is simple: build the game around the players. Every table gets a Session 0 so we can carve out the tone, set boundaries and goals, and figure out your big character dreams. Your characters are the protagonists, and I take a lot of joy in crafting personal story arcs for them to weave into the heart of the adventure. My tables are open to players of all identities and backgrounds. Everyone deserves dignity, safety, and a damn good time. Let’s tell some stories together soon!
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
Character creation happens at the table and takes about 10-15 minutes. The Witch is Dead uses a streamlined system—no complex stats or lengthy backstories needed. You will: - Choose or roll for your animal type - Choose or roll for the one magical ability your witch taught you Everything you need will be on the single-page game sheet I'll provide. No books required, no prep needed. Just show up ready to create a memorable little creature with a big grudge.
Be prepared to make furry creatures with a taste for vengeance!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
All you'll need to do is join the Discord server for the game! The link will be provided. No dice required—we'll be using a dice-rolling bot for everything.
What Dana brings to the table
Expect ambient music and the epitome of story-first rule enforcing. I'll be doing voices for the various villagers and NPCs your familiars encounter, and I embrace both the dark fairy tale atmosphere and the absurd comedy of tiny animals attempting murder plots. Rules are guidelines—if something would make the story better or funnier, we're doing it. Expect me to encourage your worst (best?) ideas and help you fail spectacularly or succeed improbably.

How Dana creates a safe table
I'll send a Lines and Veils document via Discord before we play, and we'll use X-cards during the session (just type 'X' in chat if something makes you uncomfortable). Afterwards, we'll take some time to decompress, talk about the session, and chat about how we're all feeling. New to safety tools? No worries—I'll explain everything at the start of the session. Your comfort and everyone's enjoyment are priorities at my table.
