About the adventure

Aleria is a dark, war torn world full of small secrets, lost history, and moments you only ever see when it’s just you and the story. These 1:1 sessions are fully bespoke adventures built around your character, their past, your choices, and the things that haunt or drive them to action in this world. This is a character focused story shaped entirely by what you bring to the table and how it fits into Aleria as we build it together. Everything is built fresh for you. Want political intrigue in the capital? A wander through the slums at night? A quiet moment with a ghost from your backstory? A brutal fight with an old nemesis? A slice of life in the market square? Whatever arc you want to explore, the session is built around that tone. Combat shows up if it fits, but this leans heavily into narrative, emotion, tension, and the kind of scenes you almost never get to slow down for in a group game. You can come in with a brand new character and a backstory set in my world, using the provided lore and our combined imagination to shape how what you want fits into it. I run this in a relaxed, story first style of game, music when it suits, theatre of the mind for most scenes, with the occasional map when it actually helps. You’ll walk away with a ScrybeQuill recap video and a full session page so the things uncovered here stay with you long after the session ends.

About me

Hey, I’m Gaige. I’ve been DMing D&D 5E for about 6 years now, and it’s pretty much been my main hobby ever since I picked it up. Right now I’m running a mix of long-term campaigns, some for friends and family, some for folks just looking for a solid adventure and a good group to get stuck into. My main focus is creating games that feel alive and welcoming. I love building worlds with a lot of depth, running stories that actually react to what players do, and setting up moments that people talk about long after the session’s over. If you’re after a flexible DM who’s got a couple of homebrew worlds ready to explore or you just want a one-shot to try something different then I’d be glad to have you at the table.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation is pretty simple. You can bring an existing character or make a brand new one specifically for this session. Any level works, though Level 3–9 tends to fit the tone best. I’ll give you the core Aleria lore you need, and we’ll shape your backstory together so it actually fits the world and the themes you want to explore. The setting itself is flexible and usually has room to support a lot of different ideas, so we focus on what you want your character to be and build from there. Stats can be standard array or point buy. No homebrew classes or broken nonsense, but flavour, character concepts, and thematic tweaks are always encouraged.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Before the session, you’ll just need to do these things: Join my Discord server (that’s where we do all the setup and voice chat) and pop me a message. Make sure you’ve got a working mic and stable internet. Have at least a rough idea of who you want to play. Read the short Aleria lore doc I’ll send you so you know the basics of the world. How booking works: This booking includes two sessions. Session 1 (paid): planning and story discussion. We build your character, backstory, tone, and the part of Aleria the story will explore. This is where all the custom prep begins. Session 2 (included): the actual solo adventure, played the following week at the same time. You pay the session price once. That price covers both sessions. Once Session 1 has happened, the booking is not refundable, as the custom prep has already begun. If you need to reschedule Session 2, that is usually fine. It just needs to happen within a reasonable timeframe so the slot doesn’t stay blocked indefinitely. If a session keeps getting pushed back, it may be treated as completed so the slot can be opened to other players. I’ll always communicate clearly before that happens.

What Gaige brings to the table

These sessions are fully RP-focused. It’s all about your character and how they think, react, what choices they make, and the way they move through Aleria. I run a very cinematic, story-first game, with tension, emotion, and those small character beats you never get time for in a group session. Most of this is theatre of the mind so we can stay in the moment, but if a map helps for a scene then I will use one. Combat still happens, but it’s always tied to story or flavor, never just random encounters and we will be going into flavor and detail about how your character acts, what their spells and attacks look like, as well as the monsters reactions etc. Your decisions actually matter here, and the entire session is built around the character you bring to the table. During the sessions we run through FoundryVTT and Discord, which allows me to play appropriate music tracks for setting the mood, soundboards, maps if needed and much more. After the session, you’ll get a ScrybeQuill recap video and the full session page (transcript + chaptering + summary), so you can keep the story to remember it by, or fold it into future play at my tables running games in Aleria.

Homebrew rules

I use D&D 2024 rules as the baseline, but I lean into Rule of Cool, very much so in 1:1 sessions whilst maintaining that balance of feeling the stakes of the adventure. If something makes sense for your character, the story, or the moment, I’m usually open to it happening and will try and work with you to make it as awesome as possible. Combat and mechanics are flexible where it helps the narrative, flavour, or drama land better. Clever ideas, character-driven choices, and cinematic actions are encouraged, even if they bend strict rules a little.

Safety

How Gaige creates a safe table

Because this is a 1:1 session your comfort and consent is handled directly and openly throughout play as well as laying clear boundaries and content before we start by using an RPG consent checklist as well as discussing and planning the themes for the adventure. You can always flag anything in the session if something isn’t comfortable. We can pause, redirect, or move away from a topic at any point to something else no questions asked. Sessions may be audio recorded. This is mainly to create your ScrybeQuill recap video and session page. Recording is optional, and you can opt out entirely if you’d rather not be recorded. In some cases, I may ask for permission to use short audio clips (such as narration moments or player reactions) for promotional content. This will always be optional, discussed explicitly, and never assumed. Nothing will be shared publicly without your clear consent.
