Beast World: The Delve Begins

Creating your character

We will start with a Session 0 to establish player safety, game expectations, characters, and relationships. Characters will start at level 1 and use the standard array for stat generation (keeping things fair and even). We will be using the D&D 2014 core and expanded (legacy) rulesets. Creating a character ahead of time is welcome. However, characters will be limited the guidelines defined in the Delver's Guide to Beast World which can be found at www.heartleafgames.com. Here is a quick summary: - Only species in the Delver's Guide to Beast World are allowed. If you would really like to play a beast species not listed in the book, please message me and we'll discuss. - Certain spells are limited and not able to be prepared normally. The cantrips and 1st level spells affected are: guidance, create or destroy water, and goodberry. - Necromancy is strictly forbidden in nearly all of Beast World. Worship of the evil deity Veronette is highly prosecuted. There is not a lot of grey in Beast World. - Dragon (people), Kobolds, bats, and Humans are all from realms outside Beast World, but they are welcomed all the same. - Jackals are considered Fae. - There are still "regular" animals so animal companions are not elevated to the same status as beasts (people).

Preparing for the session

Gameplay and video/audio will be on Foundry VTT through www.forge-vtt.com. The link to the game invitation is here: https://forge-vtt.com/invite/gmistresswinter/004b709c-9cd5-4650-9f1d-054087766297 But having a Discord account is encouraged as I will set up a server for the group as a place to reference lore and chat between games.

I apply my 25+ years of GMing experience in full force, bringing to you a rich and vibrant story with unique characters to interact with--all of which is supplemented with stunning visuals, fun maps, and ambient music that amps the experience. While I use the rules as a strong guide to keep the game fair and fun, I am always open to new approaches and encourage player creativity in how those rules are used.

Homebrew rules

Drinking a potion is a bonus action. Because there is enough taking up an action. Other homebrew rules are up for discussion and group consensus.

How Mistress Winter creates a safe table

Player safety is my #1 concern. We will be using a gradient lines and veils system to determine what content will be in our story. X-cards will always be an option during game play. I will provide a link to a digital lines and veils sheet. Please fill it out before the game (no pressure if you don't get to it. We'll discuss it during session 0 either way). Sometimes emotions can run high during a heavy RP session or story points get a little intense. I am happy to stick around a little time after the game if any players need time to talk and settle things.
