About the adventure
Curse of Strahd is a classic D&D module with a gothic horror/dark fantasy setting. This version will be run using the 2024 version of 5e. Players will find themselves whisked away to a cursed land choked by mist and ruled by a dark and cruel monarch. This campaign has plenty to offer more experienced players, while also serving as a great entry point for new players looking to play for the first time. My personal modifications to this module are done in the service of a more cohesive story and better-rounded (np)characters. This campaign will have an emphasis on storytelling and roleplay, while also offering challenging yet rewarding combat. Character death is a possibility, and the threat of mortality is always looming over the party.

About me
My number one goal is to tell a collaborative story with everyone at the table. The rules of a game are a tool to help shape the story, not the end-all be-all of every encounter. I always encourage players to use creative thinking rather than seeing rules as written as limitations.

Creating your character
Character creation will be done using the point-buy system available in the 2024 version of 5e. Players will be given a campaign link to D&D Beyond, where step-by-step instructions will be provided on how to create a character. Players should have a level 2 character prepared before the first game.
Current party makeup: Lv. 4 Aasimar Paladin/Warlock Lv. 4 Human Druid Lv. 4 Elf Wizard
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players should make an account on dndbeyond.com. Players should also download the Discord app. D&D Beyond will be used to track character information and for battle maps. Discord will be used for communication (video/audio/text) as well as for background music.
What Dr. Corvus brings to the table
I am by no means a professional actor, but I strive to bring the characters and the world to life. I do voices when I can and add my own spin to the world and the NPCs so they stand out. The way I run combat also errs on the more challenging side. Whether your main interest is dungeon crawling, intense combat, looting, or social encounters, there should be a little bit of something for everyone to enjoy.

How Dr. Corvus creates a safe table
There is a strong focus on horror in this campaign, but it is always meant to be in good fun. No one should ever be made to feel too uncomfortable at any time. This is a safe space, and all participants are free to voice their concerns at any time. During Session 0, we can collectively review our lines and veils to determine what we're comfortable with. Players can also privately message me with any topics they don't want to share publicly. I will also take a few minutes at the end of each session to unpack anything that happened or address any concerns.
