About the adventure
Welcome to a sun-scorched world of ancient ruins, magical artifacts, and epic adventure! This campaign begins in the bustling desert city of Al’Kirat and follows your caravan into the mysterious Wasteland—an enormous stretch of sand filled with secrets, danger, and the remnants of a long-lost empire. Even a simple journey across the dunes can lead to the discovery of something world-changing. Along the way, you’ll explore forgotten tombs, meet strange and fascinating characters, and uncover clues about an ancient Pharaoh who may not be as dead as history claims. The story grows with your choices, giving you plenty of opportunities to fight monsters, make allies, solve problems creatively, and shape your character’s path. As a GM, I create a welcoming table that encourages curiosity, creativity, and teamwork. I’m here to help new players learn the rules at a comfortable pace while still offering exciting challenges for experienced adventurers. If you love story-rich quests, cinematic moments, and exploring a world full of mystery, you’ll feel right at home. This game is perfect for anyone who wants a blend of exploration, roleplay, combat, and discovery—with room for character growth, memorable NPCs, and plenty of surprises buried beneath the sands.

About me
I have been DM-ing on and off for ~10 years now and currently in the throws of my longest ever continual group which has been playing for coming up on 2 years straight. I have been playing TTRPGs for about the same amount of time, starting with the Monte Cook's Numenera, with a sprinkle of Call of Cthulu and Blades in the Dark. I have been absolutely loving DMing Dungeon and Dragons 5e with my own style of Rule of Cool mixed with RAW.

Creating your character
Character creation can be done before Session 1 or during a brief onboarding session, and I’m happy to help new or returning players through the process. All characters begin at Level 1 and should use either the Standard Array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8) or Point Buy. You may build your character using the Player’s Handbook (2014 or 2024) and most official Wizards of the Coast material; however, homebrew, Unearthed Arcana, and third-party content are not used unless approved ahead of time. The campaign begins in the desert realm of Kirat, and your character may come from anywhere—together we will find a natural way to tie them into the opening caravan expedition. When your character is ready, you may send me a D&D Beyond link or a PDF/image of your sheet, and I am always available to help with building or refining your ideas.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Before the game begins, players should make a Discord account and be ready to join the campaign’s server, where all communication and scheduling will take place. The game itself is run through Foundry VTT, which does not require any installation, but you will need a stable internet connection and a modern browser—Chromium-based browsers such as Chrome or Edge work best. You should also have your character created using either D&D Beyond or a PDF sheet and be ready to share it with me before the first session. Finally, take a moment to test your microphone and audio setup so we can jump smoothly into the adventure once the session starts. If you need help with any of these steps, I’m happy to walk you through them.
What CaptNapalm brings to the table
I provide a fully immersive experience in Foundry VTT, complete with atmospheric background music through KenkuFM to help bring the world of Kirat to life. My GM style balances cinematic flair with structure: I absolutely embrace the Rule of Cool when it enhances the story or rewards creative play, but because this is a survival-focused campaign, I will lean more heavily into the Rules as Written when it comes to danger, resource management, and tactical choices. Combat is a major part of my games, and I run encounters that feel dynamic, challenging, and meaningful, using terrain, enemy intelligence, and player abilities to their fullest. I enjoy bringing NPCs to life through tone and energy rather than elaborate voices, and I’m committed to giving every player opportunities to shine. Players can expect a supportive environment, clear communication, and a game world that responds naturally to their decisions—heroic, risky, or reckless.
Homebrew rules
I use a simple homebrew potion rule to keep combat flowing smoothly. Drinking a potion as a bonus action provides normal healing, while drinking a potion as an action grants the maximum possible healing for that potion. Other than this adjustment, the game follows standard 5e rules unless otherwise discussed with the group.

Safety
How CaptNapalm creates a safe table
Player comfort and safety are priorities in my games. Before we begin, I provide a Google Form that gathers character backstory details as well as a Lines and Veils document so everyone can clearly communicate boundaries and preferences. We will hold a Session 0 to discuss expectations, tone, safety tools, and any personal concerns players may have. During play, I use an X-Card module within Foundry VTT so players can discreetly signal if something needs to pause, change, or be removed. My goal is to create a table where every player feels safe, respected, and able to enjoy the story fully.
