Mythveil: The Country Road Kids – inspired by Stranger Things

Coldwater Ridge was normal. Until it wasn’t. Lights flicker. Radios hum. Kids disappear. The adults won’t help. So it’s on us now.

About the adventure

This is not for adults. If you’re reading this, you already know something is wrong with Coldwater Ridge. Maybe you heard it. Maybe you saw it. Maybe you just felt it… when everything suddenly went quiet. There are places we don’t go anymore. Places where the air feels different. Where things move when you’re not looking. The adults won’t help. They don’t see it. Or they pretend not to. So this is on us now. We have bikes. We have walkie-talkies. We have a map. And we have each other. That has to be enough.

About me

You’re not looking for a GM. You’re looking for a world that pulls you in. A place where your choices matter. Where characters remember you. Where stories don’t wait — they move with or without you. That’s what I build. For decades, I’ve run cinematic, story-driven campaigns — from improvised games with a cereal box screen to international tables and long-form chronicles. Today, I run Mythveil Chronicles: a living world shaped by deep research, emotional storytelling, and real consequences. My background in History, Religion, and Philosophy grounds every story in real myth and human truth. At my table, you don’t just play. You become part of something that remembers you.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation happens together during Session 0. You don’t need any prep or system knowledge beforehand — we build everything step by step as a group. We use the official Tales From the Loop rules (Kids on Bikes style). You’ll create a kid from Coldwater Ridge with a simple archetype, a few core stats, your Drive, your Problem, and your Pride. I’ll guide you through every choice, so beginners are absolutely welcome. All characters are built in Foundry during Session 0, using only the core book (no extra supplements needed). Stats are assigned using the standard Loop rules — quick, clean, no min-maxing needed. You bring your ideas; I help you shape them into someone who truly belongs in this world. By the end of Session 0, you’ll have a living, breathing kid from Coldwater Ridge and connections to the other characters that matter.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You don’t need to prepare anything complicated — just a few simple steps so everything runs smoothly: 1. Create a free Discord account. All communication, announcements, and session links go through Discord. (You’ll receive an invite after booking.) 2. Make a free Foundry account. We play in Foundry VTT; your character sheet and the entire living world are hosted there. No purchase required — just log in. 3. Use a headset and stable microphone. Clear audio is important for high-roleplay scenes. 4. Optional but helpful: Bring a short idea for the kind of kid you want to play. No rules knowledge needed — we build everything together during Session 0. That’s it. No books to buy, no prep required. Just show up, be curious, and step into Coldwater Ridge.

What Dunchan Hunter brings to the table

You’re stepping into a living world — one that evolves with you, and even without you. Mythveil campaigns use a unique, AI-driven world simulation where every NPC has personality, memory, and consequence. If someone dies, the world shifts; if you make a choice, it echoes. I provide obsessively researched, reality-anchored storytelling. Every place, legend, and document in this game exists in real life, giving the story a depth and authenticity you can feel — and even look up yourself. Expect high-roleplay scenes, strong character voices, emotional stakes, and cinematic atmosphere with ambient music and sound. Combat is meaningful rather than constant — every conflict matters, and every choice carries weight. This is a rule-of-cool sandbox: your ideas shape the story, and the world reacts dynamically. You’ll also have full access to downtime actions, influence systems, and henchling mechanics that let you affect the world even between sessions. You bring your character. I bring a world that breathes, remembers, and moves.

Safety

How Dunchan Hunter creates a safe table

Your comfort matters. Before we begin, we run a short Onboarding Session (Session 0) where we talk through tone, themes, expectations, and anything you personally want to avoid. This is a conversation, not a form — everything is handled directly with you, clearly and respectfully. During play, we use a single safety tool: the X-Card. You can activate it at any time, for any reason, by voice or chat. When the X-Card is used, the scene stops immediately and we shift, fade, or cut without explanation required. You can always reach out privately if something feels off — whether before, during, or after a session. We take a moment for brief aftercare at the end of each game to ensure everyone feels grounded and good. This is mystery-horror with emotional depth, but your safety always comes first.
