About the adventure
Looking for political intrigue and high fantasy combat? Want to be a hero in cinematic roleplay? Then get ready... to DRAW STEEL! This will be an introductory campaign to the new Draw Steel ruleset, but it is full of political intrigue and combat. Players should be prepared to play as heroes who want to help the people around them. You'll start as a roving band of adventurers, but you'll quickly become movers and shakers in the region. We will go through 'Siege of Castle Rend' from Strongholds and Followers and 'Regent of Bedegar' from Kingdoms and Warfare, tying MCDM's first products into their new flagship RPG. Unlike other Tabletop RPGs' combat systems, in Draw Steel you don't roll to hit or miss (with the possibility of whiffing and doing basically nothing on your turn); you roll to see how much damage you do and how powerful your effects are. You're always doing something! The real sweet sauce of this campaign will be the politics and roleplaying. Will you track down the Baron's murderer? Will you stop his nefarious plans? Can you resolve the region's issues through diplomacy or will you resort to the sword?

I cut my teeth on 3.5e in 2007, moved to Pathfinder 1e, then headed over to 5e before expanding my gaming consciousness to include Draw Steel, Traveller, Fate, and my own, homebrewed, rules super-light game, Kismet.

We will have a session zero to create 1st-level characters together. Players are free to use Forge Steel, a third-party character builder, but I love using a standard character sheet (available on the MCDM website as a form-fillable PDF).

Bigotry (homophobia, transphobia, racism, etc.) and sexual assault will not be allowed at my table. The bad guys may be bigots, but even they won't go for SA. We can discuss further restrictions in our session zero (and all players will be expected to honor everyone at the table).
