About the adventure
Welcome to the Eternal Cities, deep underground, with a false night sky, inverted architecture hanging from the cavern roofs, and creatures with ties to the celestial bodies. The players will play as members of the Company of the Fallen Hawk, being tasked, out of their own volition or not, to explore the Eternal Cities underground on behalf of the dominant Golden Order above. Your expedition have left the familiar world of sunlight and warmth behind. Search for an ancient artifact on behalf of an uncaring patron, or simply for a way out. This campaign will be focused on exploration and survival in a hostile environment, with a high emphasis on combat, with relatively lower emphasis on puzzle-solving. Please read this campaign frame document (7 pages) for more details: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1P1VWUYVW8bIpe7u_3RqQBC06O1MOp7u-fVtWuXItq4k/edit?usp=sharing This game is intended for players with low to medium level of experience with D&D 5th edition. Unlike classical DnD campaigns, some rules will be adjusted to better suit the unique setting. With respect to the story of the adventure itself, it will be a nonlinear story where the players can decide what their goals are and make their own path.

About me
Hi all, my name is Peter (he/him/his). I am a DM by day, therapist by night, DM again by later night. I started playing TTRPGs in college where I fell in love with the aspect of collaborative storytelling, which I found to be more compelling and free than other art forms. I also found the therapeutic and healing nature of creating a story and embodiment of ourselves within the story. I enjoy all different genres, from urban fantasy to gothic horror to space opera. I run most games in D&D 5e, but am also running in other systems based on the appropriate focus of the game. I enjoy experimenting with different styles of gameplay, and none of my campaigns have ever felt the same. Some focus on exploration, others on strategy, others on social intrigue, or mystery solving. I am also interested in introducing culturally diverse inspirations in my games. As a enthusiast for world mythology and folklore (with certain academic background), I try to study up and incorporate folkloric themes, mostly from my native East Asia, but also from ancient Egypt, medieval Scandinavia, and any other source that I can learn enough to be respectfully informed about.

Creating your character
I will host a (free) session 0 where we discuss character creation, safety, content inclusion/exclusion, home rules, and a short intro to the world and expectation of the adventure. Player characters will start at level 1, and any officially published DnD 5e material is acceptable, though I will explain some adjustments for the campaign setting, as well as new content I made just for this setting (such as playable species/races). If you wish to use other published content, or popular homebrew content, you can reach out and discuss the balance and make sure all players are okay with it (i.e. it's not automatically accepted but we can work things out). We will be generating stats together during session 1 by rolling. Note I may ask you to re-roll stats if they are exceptionally high (or low). Since this is a combat-focused campaign, I encourage players to pay some attention to the power levels of their characters so they are not too weak. I will, of course, still balance encounters with the players in mind. What to expect
Preparing for the session
The only requirement is a microphone. Webcam is highly encouraged, so is making an account on the websites we will be using, most likely Roll20 but we may also use Owlbear Rodeo, depending on the preferences of the players. Please join the discord server: https://discord.gg/8pvVS9Fjzc It is also preferred to have a copy of the Player's Handbook, though not a strict requirement (reach out to me for resources if you need). We will create characters together during session 0.
What TheRealPeterPan brings to the table
The game will be mostly custom made and run over Roll20. Players are welcome to use character sheets on D&D Beyond and other platforms to help their gameplay. I will use homemade maps or others I bought online, while also making custom tokens and art. There are also a community effort of transporting Elden Ring content to DnD which I will be referring to and using as inspiration, which I will also provide for the players for new and unique spells, backgrounds, subclasses, magic items, etc. As a DM I am generally very flexible with rules, preferring ingenuity and creativity over rules-as-written playstyles. I also have a list of home-rules that I will send to all player before first session to review and discuss, same with a list of topics that players can choose their comfort level. I will not include any content that would make any player uncomfortable.
Homebrew rules
Homebrew rules will be shared with players at session 0 where we can all discuss which ones we want to keep, which ones we want to ignore.

Safety
How TheRealPeterPan creates a safe table
I will send out a survey asking player's level of comfort with a list of possible topics, and I will adjust the game accordingly. I will not include any topic as long as one player marks it as strictly off-limits. For more ambiguous topics, I will lead a discussion during session 0 about how these topics can or cannot be included. I will give examples with varying levels of detail and the group will decide together on an acceptable level. During the campaign I will ask for regular feedback where players can express any concerns after each session. During the session, if a topic appears players can privately message me and I will call a brief break where we can discuss how to proceed.
