Gifts of Broken Glass A Special 8-Hour Dark Fantasy Christmas One-Shot Something is wrong with the snow this year. In the isolated mountain town of Oakhaven, the Winter Solstice is usually a time of warmth and celebration. But this year, the hearth fires feel cold. The locals are acting… distant. And if you look closely at the frost on the windows, it doesn't look like ferns or flowers. It looks like chains. I am looking for 6 players for an immersive, 8-hour long-play event. We will move from a tense atmospheric investigation into a high-stakes dungeon crawl to stop a threat that could shatter the world. This will not be for the light hearted. You may well suffer losses along the way. However, should you be courageous enough, you may level your way through! What to Expect in this Premium Session: Slow-Burn Horror: We begin with social intrigue and investigation as you peel back the layers of a town under a subtle, psychic siege. Rich Lore: Discover the secrets of a fallen Order and a villain forgotten by time. Tactical Combat: Face enemies that utilize reflection, light, and glass to best you in battle. A Complete Arc: From the first snowflake to the final blow, experience a full movie-length story in a single game. The glass is cracking. Will you hold the line? Hi there, i'm Aaron or DecisiveDM. I'm a roleplay heavy DM who loves to get into the nitty gritty for each NPC and enemy. This will include voices and backstory. I don't just roleplay though, for this One-shot in particular, I will bring out the big guns of combat and offer up a grand time! Whilst I can cater for brand new players, at least a few games of experience will be preferable for this game.

About me
The Quick Stuff: I'm a very animated and enthuastic DM of around 5 years. I have experience with online and in-person formats. I've DM'd for the UK Games Expo and have a D&D Discord community I run. The Backstory: I was introduced to TTRPGs via a solo session and some one-shots run by my dear friend who was the DM. He left the country (RUDE) so left with an itch to scratch in 2020 I grabbed the DMG and trapped some people to be my guinea pig players. I've never looked back. I love it! - I do crazy voices. - I get animated acting this out. - I'm accepting of all experience levels at my table. - Whatever your beliefs or identity you have the same chances playing at my table. - I do a lot of homebrew. Creating your character
Character creation will be done before the session. However, plenty of external support will be offered in the run-up to the event. Parameters for backstories, as well as suggestions for story integration and party dynamics. A campaign slot will be opened on DNDBeyond to allow you to use my content, as well as to allow me to access your sheet if helped is required. Characters will be level 9. However, there will be opportunity to level up in the session too!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
All you will need is a Discord, DnDBeyond and Roll20 account. All of these are free. Access to the Roll20 game and the DnDBeyond campaign page will be made available closer to the time. However, you can join the discord server whenever you wish to ahead of the game: https://discord.gg/QErwH7q9F2 (please let me know you are from StartPlaying, as well as your username so I am aware).

Homebrew rules
The main house rules: - Deal with the Devil (Me): at any point a player may reauest a deal, wherein their roll becomes a Natural 20. However I, the DM, can then change a future roll into a Natural 1. - Potions: as a bonus action they are rolled, as an action you gain the maximum effect. - Critical Hits: 1x Max + 1x Rolled. - Death Saves are private between DM and specific player.

We will have a brief Session 0 before gameplay begins. Due to this being an 8 hour session, there will be plenty of scheduled breaks in gameplay for player comfort. I work with an open door policy, wherein a player game leave for a break if they feel they need to, but also, my DMs are open throughout the game for any discreet requests regarding triggers.
