About the adventure

This is a classic Mothership one-shot. Derelict space station! Check. Rowdy recovery team! Check. Mystery and madness! Check. A killer alien! Absolutely. Wrap it up into a bite-sized package, give the whole thing a nail bitting countdown to self-destruction, and you've got yourself a rollicking sci-fi adventure. If you're not afraid of having your character die in some spectacular, and probably gory way, then this is the game for you.

About me

I've been gaming for 18ish years. I got my start in the before times of 3.5e D&D, and slowly but steadily expanded into other systems. I run all sorts of games, with a focus on narrative flow, collaboration, and ease of play (very much not above heavily house-ruling out clunky mechanics).

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation in Mothership is incredibly simple. Built to get you up and running in under 30 minutes. We will collaboratively create characters right at the start of the session, throw them into a clunky spaceship, and get them into the mission. If you have the Mothership players guide as a rules reference, that's great, but it is not necessary.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

All my players need is a Discord account, dice, a character sheet, and a willingness to get into the space horror vibes. I will compile all players into my DMing Discord server. Should be a popping time.

What Seamus (shay-mus) Copland brings to the table

My style is very fluid. I'm focused far more on the experience than on the letter of the law. I respect story and rules, but I will be breaking the 4th wall. I use a lot of curated playlists. Each beat of the story will be convened both in narration, and in music. I also will be able to provide pdf's of a rule cheat sheet, and digital versions of the character sheet. Combat is focused on speed and damage. I will not be measuring hexes or anything like that.

Safety

How Seamus (shay-mus) Copland creates a safe table

If, during the course of the session, someone is made uncomfortable by something happening. We stop, we talk about it, change what we need to, and continue. I have made sure to label this Mothership mission with many warnings of gore and horror. So be warned once more: gore and horror. If someone is, and continues to be, a problem at the table. Refusing to not say things that create discomfort, they will not be returning to the game. I can offer a lot of leeway. But not for jerks.
