About the adventure
Zwari was once certain of its place in the world -- its politics steady, its people proud, its gods unmistakably present. It all ended in a single moment. The Ashen Angel fell from the sky, a sight witnessed by anyone who could see the sky that day, then, without warning, the land shook and rumbled so violently that walls fell, buildings collapsed until finally -- the sky looked wrong. The horizon bent awkwardly. Zwari was no longer in Exandria -- the Nation was alone. The Spirits went silent and what remains is a nation trying to understand the disaster it now lives inside. This campaign begins six months after the tragedy. It is a long-form, open-world dark political fantasy rooted in identity, moral ambiguity, and an approaching cosmic threat. Players begin in a land where power still exists but trust in it is breaking. The Shining Throne issues orders with diminishing confidence. The Shadow Throne observes, invisible and patient. The Vigilance and Bright Watch struggle to maintain order as fear spreads faster than information. With divine power fading and arcane practice tightly controlled, everyday life is tense and unstable. Faith fractures. Authorities grasp for explanations. Opportunists rise. Strange events appear at the edges of the map. Ever decision can lead to survival, transformation, or collapse. The Sundering emphasizes combat, roleplay, and mystery-solving, supported by exploration, political conflict, and moments of quiet horror. Rules as Written, shaped by the rule of cool, and driven by immersion, character arcs, and tactical play. Choices matter. They can redirect regions, shift alliances, or unleash consequences no one anticipated. Players help build scenes, shape lore, and share narrative weight with the DM. The tone is serious about the story but playful at the table, grounded yet flexible. Cooperation is essential; the campaign thrives when the party acts as a unit. This game is best suited for experienced players who enjoy depth, mystery, world impact, and long-form storytelling. A once-proud nation has been severed from the world overnight, its gods silent, its horizons wrong, and its future collapsing inward. What happens next is up to you.

About me
The thing about me is I love D&D. I love co-creating worlds with players. I love surprising and being surprised. I love how the dice tells the story. I love the endless well of possibilities that exist within the fantasy world. I want to play all the time and with all kinds of people. I want the game to be so engaging that we discuss it throughout the week. So that’s the energy I’m bringing.

Creating your character
Character creation will happen before the session begins. A link to D&D Beyond and information about character creation will be provided after joining the campaign. Ability Scores Players will start with an 8 and an 18 and can roll 4d6dL in Roll20 to determin their other four stats. PHB Race and Classes Only. No Homebrew. 2014 rules. Begin at 2nd Level with a robust (non AI generated) back story. I have access to nearly all of the necessary books for character creation however am willing to broaden that access if necessary.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Don't come without a good attitude :) But seriously, reading the provided lore is required. I go out of my way to keep it as brief as possible. You want to start playing with a good handle on your character's understanding of the world, their place in it, and the mark they wish to make upon it.
What Ken brings to the table
We will use D&DBeyond for character sheets, Discord for communication, and Roll20 for VTT. I have extensive experience with providing a satisfactory experience using these tools and will happily walk you through the process should you need help. You will have the opportunity to create nearly any character / character concept that you can imagine, with your character's backstory (non AI Generated) being just as important as their ability scores. I will work to fold your vision into the lore of the setting. I am a fun first DM but I do believe the most fun is had when we're following the well-established rules of the system. I'm looking for players that wish to engage and create a new world with me, both inside the session and in between sessions using Discord chat. A good attitude is a prerequisite to joining this game. There needs to be a solid balance between taking this campaign seriously while also remembering it's just a silly game we get to play. That means showing up on time, engaging during the session and in between games, sticking to character choices, and allowing room for other players to enjoy themselves as well.
Homebrew rules
Natural 20's get you advantage on the next d20 roll. Natural 1's get you disadvantage on the next d20 roll. During live games, chatting in text is encouraged even "out of turn" while in combat. Roleplay is not restricted to what's being said aloud.

How Ken creates a safe table
Character sheets will be created on D&D Beyond (Legacy 2014 rules) and we will use the Beyond20 plugin to make rolls on the Roll20 VTT during live games. Discord for voice (video heavily preferred but not required). Players will be able to contact me directly through Discord at all times during the game and in between sessions. "Session 0" material will be presented before the game begins and time provided for questions/clarifications at that time.
