About me

I started playing dnd in high school. It was just a group of friends in someone's bedroom where the dm just said random stuff and we all just rolled with it but, it got me interested to learn more and I've been all in ever since. Another player in that group got the then new 5th edition D&D rules and started a campaign that lasted the next 5 years. After finding a group to play with in college, I started to DM and really fell in love with the game. I ran a game each year of college some starting from a pre-written module and continuing on after the end of the campaign and some entirely homebrewed. I've played with players with years of experience and helped get people who had never played before join in. I've had some of those newer players start campaigns of their own and come to me for advice on how to better run their games. Now I work as a software engineer and run a game on the weekend with my wife and some friends and continue my passion for tabletop games. I have also played in a couple of Powered by the Apocalypse games and have been reading up on Pathfinder.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will be using the 2024 version of the 5e D&D rules and will be using the point buy system for stats starting at level 1. You will need a connection to Syndra Silvane a former adventurer turned merchant who sets you on your quest.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will be using discord for voice and video(optional). Once we have enough players I will send out a link to the discord for you to join. We will be using the roll20 VTT for gameplay and dice. You will need to create an account and I will send out a link to join the campaign.

What Christopher Leger brings to the table

I will do my best to do character voices however my repertoire is limited so some characters may sound similar. I use what I have seen referred to as Rules as Intended (ROI) where the rules are great guidelines to start from but oftentimes words are either unspecific or overly specific and that is where I step in as DM and allow for some bending of the rules to keep the intended image of how a character plays intact. I enjoy working with players to make sure that all magic items found throughout the campaign fit with the vision of the character that they create for themselves. Please reach out at any point during the campaign to keep me updated on anything you would want your character to have.

Homebrew rules

Unless in dire situations I will assume characters are able to find food and water so rations will not need to be tracked. I also largely ignore carrying capacity and try to keep a realistic inventory based on what a person could reasonably have on them. I also do not track material components for spells as this is mostly covered by arcane focus rules.

Safety

How Christopher Leger creates a safe table

We will be using a session 0 to discuss any content that players are uncomfortable with and do not wish to see in the campaign. We will also be using X,N,O messaged to me through discord if at any point a player feels uncomfortable with a moment in the campaign. Players are also free to walk away and return as needed.
