About the adventure
Tyranny of Dragons is two adventures in one. Hoard of the Dragon Queen, and The Rise of Tiamat. This game is for anyone looking to fight some cultists, evil wizards and dragons. You will need to be creative in your approach as one does not fight dragons unprepared. Alliances will have to be made, bonds will be broken, and your wit will be tested. Do you have what it takes to save Faerûn?

About me
Welcome, Adventurer! My name is Josh AKA The Dark Mage, and I'm here to deliver you one hell of a game! I have been DMing virtually on a wonderful discord community for a bit over a year now. After a few months, I noticed something crazy happen. Whenever I opened a new game, I had a good chunk of the server looking to be in one of my games. I seem to have an unofficial waitlist for games opening up. After several months, people started commenting that I should be getting paid for all the work I do homebrewing my games, and consistently delivering solid sessions. So, here I am! (I may also be in need of additional income) What makes me different? Well you see, I am a goofball. But in all seriousness, I spend the majority of my sessions in character. I give each NPC a personality, and voice act them, RPing with you to drive us deeper into immersion. I strive for realism, so rules are more of guidelines when considering immersion. I make heavy use of battlemaps, animations, and music in Foundry VTT. I do my best to utilize Theatre of the mind as little as possible, giving you visual aids wherever possible. Most importantly, I have some pretty amazing custom adventures coming up later this year! (As well as an original TTRPG) I strive to deliver consistently exciting games that you will talk about for years to come!

Creating your character
You may use any official D&D entry for character creation. I do allow homebrew, but please discuss with me first. We will be starting at lvl 1. However, as this will be a long campaign, you will get pretty high up in level. I do allow for feats and multiclassing. Take max health for your character! No rolling for your life force. Roll three sets of ability scores. You can do that on D&Dbeyond, or on the discord server. Choose the best set! Once in the server, you will have access to additional character creation tools and I will assist you wherever needed. Make that backstory! I always find ways to bring a character's backstory into focus in the game. Let's bring these characters and world to life together!

Preparing for the session
You will need a computer, a microphone, and a headset is recommended. What Joshk brings to the table
I will be bringing years of experience on Foundry VTT to bring you an immersive experience with ambient sounds, animations, and visual aids. I will also be voice acting your NPC's to further drive immersion. I love improv, and in D&D, it is inevitable. Some of the best game moments happens from unexpected moments. I will build the world around the character's decisions. Consequences for your actions do exist, though they may not be felt immediately. Bring the roleplay, because I will jump right into it with you! You can expect a more laid back DM style. I typically rule in favor of rules as written, however if you want to do something really cool, I will find a way to make it happen within rules as written to allow that rule of cool as well. Let's get creative!
Homebrew rules
I do allow drinking potions as a bonus action. I also allow for the addition of homebrew rules as a campaign goes on based on the playstyle of a party. Any rules that are added must be a unanimous decision amongst the party.

How Joshk creates a safe table
We will go over Lines & Veils during session 0. After every session I do an "aftershow" where everyone can express the things they enjoyed, and the things I need to improve on for next session. I am an open DM, and you can message me at any time, even during session. If something is approaching uncomfy territory, feel free to let me know! I also bake in bio-breaks during sessions, typically 90-120mins in.
