About the adventure
The Company said Hadley’s Hope was safe. A terraforming colony on LV-426, called Acheron by the colonists, is thriving against all odds. Four days ago, Russ Jorden came back from a survey infected with something. Admin had him quarantined in the Medlab. Security was up in arms, turning the whole colony upside down, looking for something. And then somehow others started getting infected. But just because there's trouble in the colony doesn't mean there isn't work to be done. You were out on a routine survey run when your tractor broke down; when you called for help, colony ops told you to hold tight until a tow could be arranged. But that was 24 hours ago, and now Hadley's Hope has stopped answering. Hope’s Last Day is a cinematic one-shot of survival horror using the Alien RPG: Evolved Edition. The colony’s doomed. The Company’s lying. The only question left is whether you can survive to prove it.

About me
My first experience with TTRPGs was two and a half sessions of Rolemaster. If you know that system, you know it's not the greatest starting point for a beginner. Added to that, our GM was trying to run this game while taking care of a newborn and finishing up med school. Despite the rocky start, I was hooked, but I didn't know anyone else at the time who could run a game at all. So I started my own D&D campaign and have been GMing ever since! I run RPGs for the stories, the surprise, and the drama. My goal is always to create an atmosphere where the whole group can explore the stories that interest them. My favorite moments in any game are when things feel cool, cinematic, heartfelt, or badass. That moment when the barbarian leaps through the wall of flame, clothes smoldering, screaming in rage. Or that moment when the Netrunner finally breaks into the top-secret mainframe to loot secrets from the rich and powerful, as a desperate firefight rages around them. But most importantly, the very best moment is when I can tell that the players have forgotten that they're sitting in a chair at a desk, and are having a shared experience that takes them away from their lives and which they'll remember for years. But I've never been satisfied with just a standard D&D campaign or two; I've run games in a dozen or so systems at this point, and I'm always excited to try new ones! I even have experience running custom one- and two-player campaigns, which can be a great way to have a more in-depth, character-driven experience, and also help to alleviate scheduling difficulties. Creating your character
This cinematic scenario uses the five pre-generated characters included in the Alien RPG: Evolved Edition Starter Set. There’s no need to bring a character sheet or roll any dice for stats, everything you need is ready when the session begins. At the start of play, players will choose from: - Janice MacWhirr, the survey team leader fighting to hold the crew together. - Morgan Hirsch, a washed-up Colonial Marine hiding behind faith and a gun. - Hannah Singleton, a hardened tractor driver who always follows Company orders. - Sonny Sigg, a curious science officer who knows more than he should. - Holroyd, a loyal Weyland-Yutani synthetic—and the only one who might not panic. Each character comes fully equipped with stats, gear, and secret personal agendas that may bring the crew together—or tear them apart. Character selection happens at the table before play begins. You’ll have time for a short introduction to your role, relationships, and motivations before the nightmare starts. All rules come directly from the Evolved Edition Starter Set, so no outside books are required or used. Players new to the Alien RPG will get a brief rules overview before the scenario begins—veterans can dive right in. The scenario is designed for cinematic, high-stakes play: fast, brutal, and full of moral dilemmas. Not everyone will survive the shift. That’s part of the fun.

What Colby brings to the table
I'll be doing everything I can to enhance the cinematic feel of steel corridors, flickering lights, and something in the walls! If your character can and would do something in a horror movie, it's good to go in this game! I'll also deliver ambiance and music through Discord, but if you find this sort of background audio distracting, you'll be able to control its volume independently.

How Colby creates a safe table
Alien is a game about fear, pressure, and survival; but never at the expense of player comfort. Horror at the table should come from the story, not from each other. Before we begin, we’ll briefly discuss boundaries and make sure everyone understands how to pause or redirect if something crosses a line. This game includes strong themes of isolation, body horror, and death. We’ll keep the tone cinematic and intense, but always safe for everyone at the table.
