About the adventure

Your adventure begins in the humble town of Phandalin. A group of heroic adventurers have just saved the townsfolk from the evil wizard Nezznar - but danger lurks in the darkness. You'll face goblins, wolves, and bugbears, as well as other deadly monstrosities as you uncover deep dark secrets about Phandalin's past. Join me in this continuation of the D&D classic - Lost Mine of Phandelver - designed with beginners and experienced players in mind. You'll be immersed in a living, breathing world that reacts to your choices and actions, in this campaign that spans from character levels 5 to 12. Whether you’re a newcomer to D&D or a returning adventurer, this campaign offers a balance of story, exploration, and cinematic combat—where your choices truly matter.

About me

Father, husband, nerd—and most importantly, Game Master. I primarily run Dungeons & Dragons campaigns with a strong focus on narrative and character-driven choices. My tables are cinematic and tend to have a healthy dose of roleplay and exploration, with meaningful combat that matters to the story. You can also expect plenty of terrible accents—delivered almost exclusively by me.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character Creation will happen as part of a group Session Zero. Feel free to bring character concepts to this session but be prepared to have them adapted to best fit the tone and setting of the campaign. CHARACTER SHEETS We will be using DnD Beyond to manage character sheets and you will have access to my 2024 Players Handbook via content sharing. ALLOWED SOURCES All content contained in the 2024 Players Handbook (PHB) will be accepted. Anything not found in the 2024 PHB will need to be approved by the GM. CHARACTER LEVEL This adventure begins at level 5, progressing through to around level 12, and is unlikely to go beyond that. STARTING EQUIPMENT Starting equipment will be handled during session zero. All players will start with a set amount of gold and purchase items prior to beginning the campaign. BACKSTORY Level 5 characters are Local Heroes and the problems they face tend to impact a village or small town.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need to register for a free DnD Beyond account, and also have access to discord.

What Kade brings to the table

Expect a mix of roleplay, tactical combat, and exploration. Sessions often shift between lighthearted moments and tense, cinematic encounters. I try to provide a relaxed environment where players have the freedom to explore their characters, interacting with the world, the NPCs, and most of all the other player characters. I use ambient music and visual aids to enhance immersion, but the focus will always be on character-driven storytelling. I do voices for my characters - often badly, sometimes hilariously. I find it necessary as a GM to help distinguish between different NPCs. This is absolutely NOT expected of players - you only have one character to play - but I do encourage roleplay. WHAT IS ROLEPLAY IN D&D? Roleplay comes in many forms. From thinking like your character, to literally living and breathing like your character. I encourage players to explore within their own comfort zone - it can be fun to have a conversation in-character, but it can be challenging to stay in-character for an entire session.

How Kade creates a safe table

During session 0, we will run through content warnings and discuss any potential no-go topics before we begin. We will also discuss table etiquette, character creation, and answer any questions. Players can use X cards during sessions, or simply message me privately at any time if something feels uncomfortable.
