About the adventure
Nestled on the eastern edge of Wesden, Humblewood is a land of harmony and humble splendor—where treetop villages sway in the wind and burrowed homes glow warmly beneath the roots. But even the brightest glades can cast deep shadows. Whispers of unrest drift through the canopy, and something dark begins to stir beneath the forest floor. In response, the Humblewood Council calls upon its most trusted protectors—The Rootkeepers. Formed in the wake of the Great Fire that nearly consumed the Wood, this venerable order of birdfolk and humblefolk stands watch against the return of corruption. They are investigators, mediators, and, when the balance demands it, vanquishers of rot. Their oath is simple: “No rot shall spread unchecked.” As a Rootkeeper, you’ll journey through six unforgettable tales—each a legend in its own right. From chasing rumors of a flying Jerbeen through the forest canopy, to descending into the roots of Alderheart itself, to uncovering the horrors that fester beneath the salt-soaked docks of Saltar’s Port—the fate of the Wood rests in your wings and paws.

Meet the Game Master
About me
As a passionate Dungeon Master with experience starting from 2017, I have cultivated a unique approach to running D&D 5e games that emphasizes collaboration, storytelling, and fun. I started my journey as a player in 2016, which has shaped my understanding of the game from both perspectives. I strive to create an epic fantasy atmosphere in my campaigns, often incorporating themes of "animals as humanoids," inspired by sources like Humblewood by Hit Point Press. My style leans RAI ("Rules As Intended") when clarifying spells and features. I prioritize story over mechanics, fostering player engagement through character voices and rich NPC backgrounds. I encourage my players to contribute creatively to the narrative, setting boundaries only when necessary to maintain game balance. I primarily run pre-written modules, customizing elements to suit my audience. I understand the importance of adapting themes and ensuring appropriateness for younger aged groups. My method of engagement includes weaving player backgrounds into the story and providing a flexible environment that celebrates creative ideas. Challenges such as guiding inexperienced players in understanding the rules have led me to listen closely to their intentions, offering suggestions and teaching core mechanics as needed. My favorite moments as both a player and a GM highlight the unpredictable and thrilling nature of D&D, showcasing the joy of unexpected successes and creative problem-solving. I use tools like Roll20 and AlchemyRPG to enhance my games, utilizing gridded maps, digital handouts, and immersive sound effects and music to create memorable experiences. With experience running games for a diverse range of players, including children and adults, I aim to foster a welcoming environment for all. As a parent of two young children, my time is precious, and I strive to make every game session E.P.I.C.: Enticing players, presenting compelling problems, engaging them with interactivity, and uncovering the consequences of their choices. I am committed to creating unforgettable adventures that inspire creativity and foster camaraderie around the table.

What to expect
Preparing for the session
Join the campaign Discord for VTT links, character discussion, and voice chat: https://discord.gg/JhVekr66pK As a member of The Rootkeepers, you’re called by the Humblewood Council to investigate strange happenings—rumors, unnatural magic, and spreading corruption. Start at Level 3. Choose a Birdfolk or Humblefolk lineage (others by GM approval). Expect cinematic, rule-of-cool storytelling with a balance of roleplay, mystery, and creative combat across six legendary tales.
What ThorTheNinja brings to the table
As your Game Master, I bring a world alive with voice acting, music, and cinematic storytelling. Expect lively NPCs, distinct character voices, and ambient soundscapes that capture every flutter of wings and creak of boughs. Combat is dynamic and story-driven—challenging but never bogged down by rules. I follow Rule of Cool over Rules as Written, rewarding clever ideas, teamwork, and bold creativity. Players who think outside the box will shine brightest. Virtual maps and scenes, and access to a dedicated Discord for character development and post-session debriefs. The tone blends Redwall’s heart, Studio Ghibli’s wonder, and Humblewood’s spirit—a place where courage and compassion matter as much as combat. Every session builds toward a living legend—your story woven into the roots of Humblewood.
