About the adventure
This isn't your typical Stars Without Number game. We won't be using random roll tables - it's all curated with you in mind. The campaign is set on a supermassive space station called The Reach, situated between the spiral arms of the Milky Way Galaxy near a rogue nebula and a black hole. It's a place where neon lights hide shadowed alleys and dark corners. You are investigating a missing person. Seems simple enough right? Well, nothing is simple on The Reach. Turns out her parents are the overlords of the Bloodletters, the most dangerous criminals on the station. And here you are just trying to make a few credits to get through the week. Navigate corporations, criminal syndicates, and law enforcement as you try to find this missing girl before her enemies do, and especially before you lose your head.

About me
I've been a Stars Without Number DM since 2017. I've run several campaigns using my homebrew lore and setting using this ruleset. I think my world is immersive and expansive enough to bring joy to others besides my friend group. I will guide new players and give veterans something they haven't experienced before. I have my roots in D&D 5e but I opted for SWN because it has nearly perfect rules for science fiction gameplay. I can help player a transition from other rulesets and worlds to mine. My goal is to bring joy and a little trauma to my players. I want my players to be badass, to feel scared but to punch fear in the face.

Creating your character
We will have a Session 0. In that session, we will create characters together, discuss emotional and psychological boundaries, and create expectations. Refer to the Stars Without Number Revised Edition and the Campaign Discord for homebrew. We will be using the standard character creation format, with the addition of picking an alien species after rolling base stats. Anything rules pulled from other "-Without Number" books will be shared in the Discord in "#homebrew". Do not use the book lore; it is irrelevant. We will be using the book rules but not the setting and history. No precog. No AI/VI/Robot characters.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Must have a Roll20 account. Must have a Discord account. Please be prepared with an idea for a backstory. It doesn't have to be super detailed but having ideas will help Session 0 go smoothly.
What Randall Harper brings to the table
I use Map of the Mind in addition to actual maps. It'll depend on the scope of what we're doing and where we are in the game. Be prepared for that! I use music to try and fit the mood of the moment. I try to stick to the rules for the most part but Stars has a lot that can be grey so I am also open to different interpretations. I will provide the book and any additional rules documents such as homebrew and errata.
Homebrew rules
There are alien species that have bonuses. For D20 rolls: -Critical Successes are double damage and automatic hit. -Critical Failures may result in bad things happening (it's context dependent). For D6 rolls: -Sliding scale of success and failure. Strain can be used to "go above and beyond" (ask me what you want to do). I'm open to custom foci and mods. Please run your idea by me so we can work on it together.

How Randall Harper creates a safe table
Session 0 will cover expectations and boundaries. I don't expect everything in the Content Warning will come up but I'm including those things just in case we veer in that direction. The Reach is a dangerous place where evil walks freely and good cowers in the dark. I will always have an Open Door to discuss any issues. We will take Breaks for bathroom use, snackage, and just to refresh the mental faculties and get emotional space if necessary. There is absolutely no racism in the game, and I will not tolerate it in any capacity; however, I do have alien species and different species do judge other species. I try not to go overboard with it but it's there.
