About the adventure
Welcome to Sharn, the City of Towers — a place where ambition reaches for the heavens and corruption festers in the shadows below. Arcane energy hums through glass elevators and skycoaches, while rain slicks the cobblestones of the lower wards. Here, ancient magic meets industrial progress, and the scars of the Last War still burn beneath the city’s glittering façade. From the heights of Skyway to the depths of the Cogs, every tower tells a story — and every story has a secret. This is a noir fantasy thriller blending pulp adventure with urban intrigue. Picture Blade Runner meets Arcane, with a touch of Indiana Jones and The Maltese Falcon. You’ll follow threads of murder, espionage, and moral grayness through a city that rewards the clever and punishes the idealistic. Whether you’re a disillusioned veteran, a changeling con artist, or a warforged detective haunted by memory, Sharn offers a stage for personal stories of redemption, betrayal, and ambition. At my table, storytelling takes center stage. Each session feels like an episode of a serialized drama — cinematic, character-driven, and deeply immersive. We mix investigation, dialogue, and high-stakes action, often blurring the line between hero and suspect. You’ll find meaningful roleplay, factions with shifting loyalties, and mysteries that evolve with your choices. Combat is fast, tactical, and cinematic — but it’s the moments between fights, the quiet conversations in smoky taverns and broken labs, that define your story. This game is for players who love rich worldbuilding, emotional stakes, and moral complexity. If you enjoy solving mysteries, playing flawed but fascinating characters, and diving into a setting where every spell has a consequence and every deal has fine print, then the City of Towers is waiting for you. Sharn doesn’t care if you rise or fall — but the story we tell together will make the climb unforgettable.

About me
Greetings, adventurers. I am James, your storyteller, world-shaper, and guide into the unknown. After years behind the Dungeon Master’s screen—summoning realms from shadow and starlight, and forging legends with brave companions—I am opening the gates to new heroes ready to carve their names into myth. I invite you to step into a realm built for the bold. A place where imagination is the spark, and every decision echoes through stories of honor and valor, glory and ruin, triumph and heartbreak. Around this virtual table, we create worlds together—worlds where steel rings, dragons wake, and destiny bends beneath the hands of those daring enough to grasp it. Above all, we venture forth for one eternal purpose: to revel in the joy of the adventure.

Creating your character
⚔️ Character Creation Players will create 3rd-level characters using the D&D 5e 2024 ruleset, set in the world of Eberron. All official content is welcome, including Eberron: Rising from the Last War and Wayfinder’s Guide to Eberron. Session Zero will walk players through tone, safety tools, and collaborative character creation. Together, we’ll connect your backstories to the streets, towers, and factions of Sharn — every hero will have a reason to call this city home. Allowed Sources: Official WotC materials (PHB, Xanathar’s, Tasha’s, Eberron books, 2024 PHB) UA or homebrew by request (case-by-case) Variant Human, custom lineage, and Eberron races encouraged (warforged, shifters, changelings, kalashtar) Character Hooks & Style: This campaign thrives on personal stories and moral complexity. I’ll work with you to weave your backstory into noir-style mysteries, faction politics, and personal consequences. Expect your choices to matter — your allies and enemies will remember. Starting Gear: Standard + one personal trinket tied to your past (a broken dragonshard compass, a marked letter, or an unfinished invention — something that hints at your story).

What James Darley brings to the table
🎙️ What I Provide My Players Expect an immersive, cinematic experience that feels more like living inside a story than just rolling dice. I blend gritty realism with high fantasy, using ambient music, soundscapes, and visual maps to make the city of Sharn feel alive — from the hiss of rain on cobblestones to the hum of skycoaches overhead. I do character voices for key NPCs — detectives with gravel in their tone, dragonmarked nobles dripping with charm and menace, and warforged veterans still haunted by the Last War. You’ll feel every conversation matter. My GM style mixes narrative storytelling and tactical tension. Combat is cinematic and deliberate — every swing of a sword, every spell cast, every desperate chase through the rain matters. But outside battle, the focus shifts to choices and consequences. The city remembers your actions, and every favor comes due. I embrace the Rule of Cool when it serves the story — if something sounds awesome and fits the noir tone, I’ll find a way to make it work. But I also value fairness, clarity, and meaningful stakes. Your victories will feel earned. At my table, the goal isn’t just to win fights — it’s to tell the kind of story you’ll remember years later. In Sharn, every hero has secrets, and every shadow hides a chance for redemption... or ruin.

How James Darley creates a safe table
My table runs on trust, collaboration, and respect—just like the Bat-Family itself. The story may get dark, but the players should always feel safe. 🗝 Session 0 Check-In: Before we begin, we’ll review tone, themes, and content boundaries together. Brightest Day: The Long Halloween explores mature themes (violence, trauma, redemption), so I’ll send a Lines & Veils safety form where you can privately mark anything you don’t want depicted or want handled gently. ⚠️ X, N, & O Cards (Digital): We’ll use the X/N/O safety system through Discord messages or voice chat: X: Stop. I’m uncomfortable—let’s pause or fade out. N: I’m okay, but this is close to a limit—let’s ease up. O: I’m good—this scene is intense but I’m comfortable continuing. You can message me directly or say it aloud at any time. No explanations required.
