About the adventure
>>Watch the VIDEO PROMO of the campaign: https://youtu.be/dF9I88ZX7Co << ---------- He's dead. "The neck wound is fresh," your companion whispers. Her torchlight reflects on the spreading pool of blood below the body. "Then he's probably in one of these," you say, gesturing to the light-less, closely packed houses that tower over you. Your companion nods and pulls a sharpened stick from inside her cloak. You take a deep breath, knowing that this will likely be the last night for both of you. "Let's catch this bastard." In Vampire Hunters Inc. you will play a member of a team of skilled adventurers driven to rid a fantasy city of a new plague: vampires. You have your own reasons to hate them, and you have the best gear to kill them, but hey, these are vampires, and your survival is anything but guaranteed. Meet the Game Master
About me
Hello! My name is Vahid. As well as being a Dungeon Master for 40+ years, I am the producer and DM of the streaming show Dice Legenz (links below to check out our show). Over the 40+ years of being in the D&D scene I have spent thousands of hours playing HEAPS of different TTRPG systems, but I especially love D&D 5th edition. Role-playing games are an amazing way to connect with friends, make new friends, create new and exciting worlds, and just have a wonderful creative time. Fun is the core of all of the games that I run. The sessions that we will have together will be a balance of engaging, interactive role playing, and exciting, thrilling, fast paced action. While running pre-made modules is fun, the real excitement for me is creating new worlds, new characters, new adventures. Therefore, the games that I run are in unique world settings. Together, we will encounter monsters you have never seen before in places no one has ever visited before. And at the heart of all of the adventure are the characters that YOU make - the heroes, or perhaps antiheroes, of our adventure. If you like making fascinating heroic (or anti-heroic) characters, you're in the right place; if you love helping to build wild and wonderful worlds, you're in the right place; if you enjoy scintillating role playing experience, you're still in the right place; if you're a strategic thinker and love combat, this is the place for you; and if you love going up levels and collecting loot… yep! You're in the right place! The games that we will play together are open for any experience level. Whether you are a veteran, or a first-time D&D player, you are welcome here. When not doing Dungeons and Dragons, professionally I am from the television and media world. I'm a music composer that composes for media, especially animation, but also for advertising, games, magazine shows, children's shows, sports, etc. I've also had experience as a voice actor, script writer, animation director, and now the producer of the Dice Legenz show. In my personal life I am a husband and father. I live in New Zealand, but was born in Bloomington, Indiana in the United States of America. I'm a world citizen who works with people all over the planet. Creating your character
The first session of the campaign will be a free (not charged) Session 0 to talk about characters, setting, backstories. You are welcome to bring a character to that session. Or you can come to the Session 0 with an idea, or multiple ideas, for characters. Or come to it with a blank slate, ready to brainstorm the characters together. I have a selection of fun pre-made characters of every class ready to go it you prefer. They just need a name and a backstory and are ready to hunt blood suckers. CHARACTER CREATION: -Any class or species found in the official D&D 2014 or 2024 Players Handbook (the 2024 ones are more capable, so I suggest you choose 2024 options). -Characters start at 3rd level. -Standard array stats. -Averaged hit points (not rolled). -Any mundane equipment, weapons or armour you want up to a gold piece value of 400gp. No magical items. -Spells and Feats from the official D&D 2014 or 2024 Players Handbook (again, I suggest you choose 2024 rules). If you create your characters within our Roll20 game you will have access to all the 2014 and 2024 character creation options, including species, classes, feats, equipment and spells. If you have a character idea that is outside the official Players Handbook I suggest you wait until our Session 0 is complete, so you understand the setting and other characters, before creating the character.
We will have a Session 0 to start the campaign. We will discuss characters during that session. You are welcome to bring character ideas to the Session 0. We will finalise them and work out connections and backstory elements during the Session 0. Pre-made characters are available in every class if you want.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need a working microphone, internet connection, account on Roll20 (it is free), and to join my Discord server (also free). Cameras are optional. I use a camera. You can choose. You are welcome to use physical dice or digital.
What Vahid Qualls brings to the table
VTT, professional maps, immersive music, professional voicing. We use the Rules as Written most of the time, but aren't afraid to bend them to make room for the Rule of Cool.
Homebrew rules
Initiative scores instead of rolling initiative. This gets us into combat faster. See pg. 42 of the Dungeon Masters Guide for details. Critical Saving Throws. A nat 20 on a saving throw roll means no effect, even if a save would normally mean 1/2 damage. A nat 1 on a saving throw means double damage. If a character with the Evasion trait (e.g. rogues and rangers) rolls a nat 1 they take full damage instead of half damage.
