About me

I've been immersed in D&D for over two decades, ever since I stumbled upon my father's vintage collection – back when Elves and Dwarves were classes, not races! With this, I bring a deep understanding of the game's evolution to the table. I run my games on FoundryVTT, a platform that's both powerful and free for players. While I'm comfortable with theater of the mind, I also utilize maps for those who crave a more visual and tactical experience. My passion lies in crafting RP games with dynamic combat. Think engaging roleplay with a focus on blooming narrative, but don't worry about the lack of crunchy combat. Whether you're a seasoned adventurer or a wide-eyed newcomer, I'm excited to welcome you to my table. I love fostering a fun and inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable contributing to the story.

What GM Niv brings to the table

I am a professional DM with more than 20 years of experience in crafting worlds and stories for TTRPGs. I will leverage every tool available, including cutting-edge AI tools to create immersive and highly-produced games. With these tools, I can provide a level of depth that would take an entire game design team for every key NPC, magic item, and unique locations. Session 0 will be free, as it will go over character creation, a starter adventure, and a crash course on FoundryVTT if needed. You will also gain access to all required rules, as well as additional expanded, partnered, and homebrew rules all available inside of foundryVTT.

Homebrew rules

I will generally run a game following the rules as written until a better option is presented. I never want my players to feel hamstrung by the mechanics of the game. A few adjustments to balance pre-existing classes. (Such as rogues gaining Extra Attack) D&D Partnered content is available. Changes to Healing potions. (Can use with interaction, action, or bonus action) Buffs to two-weapon fighting. (off-hand strike is included in attack action) Extra Weapon Proficiency Skills. Critical Fumbles, and more impactful critical hits.

Safety

How GM Niv creates a safe table

So this in particular is an incredibly important subject for me and I expect my players to have a healthy respect for it as well. The way I handle safety is like this: 1. During session 0 I will have players fill out a survey, so I get an idea of what is, and is not, ok for them at the table. These only come to me and will not be shared with the other players. 2. If something isn't sitting right with a player I encourage them to send me a message in the moment. I don't want someone to deal with something that makes them uncomfortable simply because they think it will be awkward. I will try to handle it smoothly, but I will never out the person who sent the message. 3. If something continues to not sit right after having messages, I would love to schedule some kind of 1 on 1 talk on Discord to better understand what isn't being tackled correctly and how I can improve on it in the future. Generally, things are insinuated to but never fully described. Lines and Veils. If something truly bothers someone, we can draw a line, and it won't be mentioned.
