About the adventure
The Carnival drifts through the Mists, a traveling refuge for the cursed and the strange. Beneath its painted tents, miracles and monstrosities share the stage: fire dancers born of nightmares, beasts that weep like poets, and laughter that curdles as quickly as it charms. Every night, the crowds forget their fear. Every morning, something new is missing. Isolde, the Carnival’s mistress, swears there’s a way to break their chains. The Mists have made them wanderers, prisoners in their own spectacle, and she will not rest until her people are free. Her only obstacle is the Caller, the voice in the mirrors, the presence in the smoke, whispering of an easier escape: surrender. The Carnival crosses from Domain to Domain, gathering souls from every cursed land: heroes, monsters, scholars, and sinners alike. Each new recruit brings a spark of hope and power to the troupe, a chance to strengthen their bastion against the Mists’ hunger. Yet every alliance risks drawing the Caller’s gaze closer, its whispers louder. You are part of this fragile family, a performer, guard, healer, craftsman, or loremaster keeping the show alive as the Carnival rolls through nightmare realms. It is your only island of safety in the dark, its lights the last warmth against endless dread. Isolde claims she’s found a way to escape the Mists once and for all. Whether you believe her or not, you have nowhere else to go, and the next curtain call may decide the fate of everyone who dares to hope.

About me
Hey all! I'm Jack, I'm a best selling adventure writer and professional GM with years of experience. I am all about narrative experiences, with the players at the centre, and I want to help you create the best adventure we possibly can! I've got years of experience running countless sessions of TTRPGs, for both my friends and for strangers. I obsess over the games when I'm not playing, always plotting and scheming elaborate set pieces and NPCs for my players to bamboozle and destroy.
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
Character creation will take place during session 0. Your character can be anyone you want but they must have already arrived at the Carnival of Ravenloft. We will brainstorm and discuss ideas for this during session 0. Your character will be level 3 at the start of the adventure. Feel free to use any officially published supplement for your character. I will also provide a huge range of options on Roll20.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need a Discord and Roll20 account. Otherwise, please having a basic understanding of D&D rules before playing. You don't need to be an expert, or even have played before, but please at least read the basics in the Player's Handbook!
What Jack S brings to the table

How Jack S creates a safe table
We will discuss our safety tools during Session 0. No one will be excluded due to any limits they may have. We will use a Lines and Veils document and make use of the X card system during play. Ravenloft is ultimately a horror setting (just look at those content warnings!) but I want everyone at my table to feel safe and cared for. This adventure will involve travel between the many many domains of dread, isolated pockets of horror that exist in the mists. If you want to join the game but would feel triggered by plagues (for example) I just won't have us go to the plague domain! So if you have concerns or worries about any of the content warnings listed below, feel free to reach out! Odds are that we will be able to work around it with no issue at all.
