About the adventure
In the Forgotten Realms, we will be venturing between Baldur's Gate (The City of Murder) and Candlekeep (A City of Magic) before making the Hell-Torn Elturel, once a sanctuary of good, but has been ripped into the Baator (The Nine Hells). Discover why and what can be done to save the city and those who are caught in the cross (Hell)fire... We will be using Homebrew Gestalt rules! You will be leveling up in two classes at once (Basing hit points on the hit die that is the larger of the two classes you pick). Even spell slots from each class you pick stack on top of each other! For example, a Sorcerer / Bard has four spell slots at level one. To balance and keep encounters engaging, I will be using unique enemy abilities to keep the party on their toes. Gestalt will continue through the end of Descent into Avernus into Chains of Asmodeus, which will take the party up to level 20 and potentially meet the Lord of the Nine himself: Asmodeus. If you are willing to learn the Gestalt system or if you're a veteran excited to see this module in a new lens, join us today!

About me
Howdy, I'm the Minotaur of Malice, or (reluctantly) my initials as my players have come to call me... I am your neighborhood DM-ing man ready to whip up some fun adventures with some gimmick or another. Most importantly, I want to mesh our creative ideas together in a group of excited players to make a memorable campaign. Communication, creativity, and snacks are crucial to creating the best memories together. My biggest claim to success is running Tyranny of Dragons and making it ENJOYABLE for the table! Flexibility and maintaining an understanding of wants and desires for a game (with slight seasonings of surprise). Even homebrews are based the table. Whether it is helping a new player to the hobby or adding intrigue for a veteran, I seek to bring joy and refreshing play for all involved. If you want to join this journey, let me know and we'll get this die rolling!

Creating your character
Session 0 cost will be waived by me, where we will get the baseline of character creation completed and go over the rules of the Homebrew Gestalt system. D&D 5e 2014 as a baseline, but I am open to allowing 2024 rules upon requests (Popular approved requests being the improved healing spells, new class variants, and weapon mastery) Innate flying races are banned, but temporary flight is fine (Variant Tiefling is banned / Aasimar is fine) We will be starting at level one with a free feat! (Yes, this stacks with variant human) You will start with starting class equipment from both classes selected, background gear, and the maximum starting gold from one class that provides the highest possible. Stats are decided with Point Buy, but you will have 32 points to spend. Characters can be tracked wherever you wish. You can have it in the site I am hosting (Roll20), in person, or D&D Beyond. But I will need token art at the very least for combat purposes! I am allowing all official, first-party Wizards of the Coast material. Third-party and homebrew are approved case-by-case, but do not assume without asking.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Have a Discord and Roll20 account! We will be connecting via voice on Discord and visuals will be done through Roll20 (Possibly dice if you want to make your character there). I will send you an invite on Discord to my server where I host my games. From there, I will drop you an invite to the Roll20 game.
What Minotaur of Malice brings to the table
I utilize scripts on Roll20 to do things from organizing notes, to making tokens do silly dances, to quickly dropping magic items! I will always assume Rules as Written, but if you communicate with me your intent and plans, then I may allow things that fall under arbitrary rulings in your favor. If there are already mechanical ways to accomplish certain things, then we can set up to achieve your goal. FOR EXAMPLE: My players in a Tyranny of Dragons campaign had an owl familiar holding a bag of bombs ready an action to dash into a dragon's maw when it opens for a breath attack. There are no written rules for going into a creatures mouth without explicit swallow abilities, but that is smart, silly, and most importantly communicated beforehand clearly.
Homebrew rules
Gestalt (Obviously) Potions can be used as an action AND/OR bonus action. Long Rest EFFECTS apply upon leveling up (The time for a long rest does not magically pass). Inspiration Cards! I utilize these cards which you can hold a number of equal to your proficiency bonus. They all have the effect of "Advantage on your next d20 roll" like normal inspiration, but include secondary options and require no action to play. Some force an enemy to reroll, others can grant an additional bonus action. I allow trading/gifting these cards between combats, but not during.

Safety
How Minotaur of Malice creates a safe table
I will be utilizing safety cards in my games. These will be color coded with Green "Go", everything is good to continue; Yellow "Slow", where this is headed is okay, but let's not go deeper into detail; Red "Stop", just. stop. If you feel uncomfortable playing the card, you are free to message me directly on Discord or whisper via Roll20's chat, and I can call for a break to handle the issue at hand. I will keep your anonymity or allow you to join in let others hear your side.
