About the adventure

This will be a modified version of Descent into Avernus using some of Alexandrian Remix content, and some of my own to help flesh out some of the more lackluster parts of the campaign. Descent into Avernus will have you and your party combat against cultists and devils through every chapter of this module. You may even have to make a deal with a devil or two along your way!

About me

I have been playing Tabletop RPGS since around 2013 with Pathfinder 1e originally and then made a switch to 5e a few years later. Those are my two favored systems to run. When it comes to DMing, I have been running games on and off for the last 8+ years, but even with that much time playing and running ttrpgs, there is always something new to learn and improve on! I love the story and roleplay aspect of ttrpgs the most, but I'd be lying if I didn't say I spent sleepless nights crafting cool items, encounters, and homebrew systems for my players if they wish to try them out.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will be on D&D Beyond, and so will the maps I use. We will be using the point buy system so each player can have a fair and balanced start. With this campaign, do keep in mind the module theme and setting when crafting your character and background. When making a character, I will allow 3rd party content such as Crooked Moon and Grim Hollow when picking races, subclasses, feats, and spells.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a Discord account for audio and chat functions (Video is optional), a D&D Beyond account for character sheets and the virtual map. D&D Beyond has virtual dice you can use, but you are welcome to use your real dice.

What Silvyr brings to the table

There will be a Discord server for this campaign where you can chat with the other players and myself. We will use D&D Beyond for character creation, and I have a good selections of books owned on the website that I can share with all of you for that process! And we will be playing on Foundry VTT through Forge, so you will need to make an account on Forge to play, but that is super easy and straightforward to get done.

Homebrew rules

I like to use a few homebrew rules, and will post about them in the Discord server. However I am open to homebrew suggestions and whatever I suggest will still be up to the group to agree or disagree on. A homebrew rule I like to suggest is; When a creature scores a critical hit, the attack automatically hits. Then, roll a second attack roll to determine the severity of the critical hit. Based on the result of this second roll, the critical hit falls into one of the following categories: Soft Critical: If the second attack roll is lower than the target's AC, roll double the normal damage dice. Decisive Critical: If the second attack roll meets or exceeds the target's AC (but is not a natural 20), roll double the normal damage dice, and treat the first die as if it rolled its maximum value. True Critical: If the second attack roll is a natural 20, double the number of damage dice rolled, and treat all dice as if they rolled their maximum values.

Safety

How Silvyr creates a safe table

While in the Discord server, I will have a private chat between myself and each player. If something happens during session, it can be privately communicated with me. After each session, we can debrief and reflect on the session and we can discuss anything if needed. I will also have a channel for Stars and Wishes! I play with an open door policy, so if anything needs to be addressed that hasn't already, you can always reach out to me in private.
