About the adventure

You are a vampire. Four hundred years ago, a war raged between mortals and vampires. The mortals unlocked a strange divine power known as "The Midnight Sun." This made the sun strangely rise at night, which caught the vampires by surprise, killing many. Your vampire maker, in a last ditch desperate effort, put all of your characters into a deep slumber. Now you awaken to a new world, your maker is gone and your characters are filled with rage over their lost dominion. Your characters are now looking for a way to dominate and conquer the continent to get their revenge and claim their rightful power. Will they rule through blood and terror? Or perhaps through politics and deceit? How will you own the night?

About me

I've been GMing for about 6 years now and love every second of it. I greatly enjoy crafting little sandboxes for others and just letting them run wild and seeing what antics they come up with. I rely heavily on collaborative world building with the use of "yes and". I've run fantasy settings with Dungeons and Dragons, Cyberpunk settings with Shadowrun and old timey horror settings with Candela Obscura and Call of Cthulu.

Character creation

Creating your character

Your characters are ancient vampires. This gives them great strength and advantages, but also some disadvantages. Mechanics: All species are available. You have access to all of the feats and abilities of your base species. When you are in the game, the discord server will have a channel with all of the vampire related feats and character creator guidelines. Backstory and personality: While this is an evil campaign, your character is not necessarily evil for no reason. They likely hate mortals for sympathetic reasons. Maybe you have seen them commit genocides and other atrocities. Perhaps you were betrayed by them. Be creative about what your character hates about mortals. The major reason your characters are "evil" is because their nature requires they feed on and hunt mortals to survive.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will have a session 0, free of charge. Create a Roll20 account and download discord. I will create a special private discord server that we want use to coordinate communication and post memes.

What Alan Diaz brings to the table

This is an evil campaign, you are the horrifying monster in the night. The difficulty of combat and encounters will reflect that. The combat will not be incredibly intense or tactical. There will be stakes but every encounter that the players will face will be designed to be relatively easy for them to beat. I will use rule of cool heavily, I don't look up rule disputes in the middle of the session and will often use a ruling that creates a more fun story.

Homebrew rules

Special Vampire Mechanics: Players will receive a lot of special feats in addition to any feats acquired from character creation with their chosen species. In addition, there is a special leveling system that players will have access to. Not only will they have their base class abilities but also be able to improve their vampire abilities as they level.

Safety

How Alan Diaz creates a safe table

I use Lines and Veils as my primary safety tool. As this is an evil campaign, I will insist that everyone fill out the lines and veils check list that I will send. I will anonymously share some of the lines and veils with other players during session 0.
