About the adventure

How did you get here? The Prince is gone. Camarilla breathing down each others necks, Anarchs sharpening their teeth in the north, who-knows-what lurks beyond the borders of this city. And now here you are: a pawn on their board, their game. Did you choose this? Did they force you? Was this the best you could hope for? Doesn't matter. The only question that matters is - are you gonna make it to the other end of this board? What to expect: 🩸 Taking on the role of a Camarilla neonate: a young vampire, serving the status-quo faction. 🩸 Focus on roleplay, intrigue and investigation. 🩸 Moral dilemmas: balancing your own ambitions with who to trust, holding onto humanity and keeping those you care about safe. 🩸 Cold war era espionage and political intrigue. 🩸 A cast of colorful characters with shifting loyalties. 🩸 Gothic horror: hunger, isolation, alienation and the slowly growing rift from the world of the living. 🩸 Supplementary puzzles/clues/mysteries given out in the form of text or audio during or in-between sessions. 🩸 Free session 0 to familiarize ourselves with the game/setting and to set up our characters, their relationships and their place in the world.

About me

Hello friend. My name is Edgar I'm a storyteller, writer and artist with just about ten years of GM experience. It all began when I was a wee lad and got invited to game of, would you believe it, Dungeons and Dragons. I fell in love with tabletop roleplay right then and there, seeing it as collaborative art and storytelling. At my table we are inclusive, welcoming and attentive. I've run many systems in my time and played around with a bunch of themes. If I had to pick favorites, I'd go with mystery and horror, so even if we're doing wacky hijinks in Faerûn, I am liable to throw in a puzzle or a scare. While the rules of the system are an important framework, I believe that the 'rule of cool' is a universally excellent rule. As a GM my loyalty is to the story that we are all creating together, with all the curveballs and out-of-the-box chicanery players are oft to do.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will create characters together during a free session 0, using rules for Neonate character creation with 30 starting exp (instead of the usual 15). All the official VtM 5e books are free to reference and pull from.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a Discord account for voice chat and a Roll20 account as that is where the game will be hosted.

What Edgar brings to the table

I will use voices to differentiate characters but not accents, or at least sparingly. Firstly for cultural sensitivity reasons, secondly because of the time and setting. We will of course be speaking english, but in universe the primary languages used by characters would be vietnamese and french. I will use ambient music on roll20 for atmosphere. Combat, typical of VtM 5e will be dramatic, intense but rules light.

Safety

How Edgar creates a safe table

- I will be sending my players an RPG consent checklist. - During session 0 we will re-establish the themes and topics of the game. - X/N cards can be used on video or discord chat, whichever is more comfortable. - We will have a 10-15 minute break around the middle of the session. - After the session if you have any concerns, questions or comments, I highly encourage my players to voice them.
