About the adventure

- The Lost Mine of Phandelver… Continued! This adventure sees the continuation of the story of the Lost Mine of Phandelver from the original 5e starter box set. Players encounter familiar elements from the original adventure, including goblin ambushes and the town of Phandalin, but with new art and updated details. The original adventure is mostly unchanged, but it’s been updated to include a few traces of cosmic and eldritch horror which both become more apparent during the latter half of the adventure. - Phandalin Phandalin serves as a great representation of the rest of the Sword Coast. You’ll be introduced to a small but diverse cast of characters that do a great job of introducing the setting to players in a fun and fresh way. You’ll meet characters of various factions and alignments; showing the players all sorts of different perspectives. This campaign is far from a political intrigue story though, as you’ll have plenty of opportunities to slay bandits and goblins! - Cosmic Horror The second half of this adventure ramps up the themes of cosmic horror quite a lot, and that’s something I believe every player should be aware of before signing up for this kind of game, as I personally don’t intend to shy away from it at all as the GM. There will be moments where the utter reality of a scenario is questionable, characters’ sanity may become very fragile, and existential dread from the threat of the unknown and the thoughts of mortal insignificance will play major roles.

About me

Hi there! I’m Robin, and I’ve been running Dungeons & Dragons games since 2015. That year, I first discovered TTRPGs and instantly fell in love with the hobby. It quickly became a creative calling: building worlds, guiding adventurers, and crafting stories that leave lasting impressions on people. I care most about creating experiences that feel alive and emotionally grounded. I want players to feel immersed in the story; this means they make meaningful choices and form real connections. My bachelor's in anthropology, paired with my love for worldbuilding, has given me the tools to create detailed, unique, and memorable cultures and societies for my own campaign settings. Whether the tone leans toward epic, tragic, or lighthearted, my focus is always on immersion, character-driven storytelling, and building a table where everyone feels safe and excited to roleplay. Over the years, I’ve run games for a wide range of players and personalities, and I’ve learned that the best sessions come from trust and communication. I love adapting to different playstyles and weaving each player’s imagination into the adventure. If you’re looking for a game that values story, character, and genuine collaboration, I'd love to see you at my table. The adventure’s waiting, and there’s always room for one more!

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will take place during our session 0 (which does not cost you anything), and my goal is to always encourage players to make characters with each other in a way where we can have immediate backstory ties in the party before session 1. All characters will be level 1. Should a player character ever die during our adventure, you'll make a new character at the same level that the rest of the party is. Based on what we decide at the session 0, characters will use either rolled stats or point buy. I personally don't mind either way, so if there are no strong opinions from players, I will usually allow a mix of stat generation methods. We'll make our characters on roll20, where I own all of the relevant digital resources needed for character creation. Moreover, if there is a homebrew resource that you'd like to use for the game, feel free to let me know, and I'll read over it and see if we can fit it into the game! More often than not, I tend to be very accommodating with homebrew, but occasionally I will want to make some adjustments to outside sources if I feel that they might bring a character to a power level that is far above or below the rest of the party. Additionally, I allow all characters to start with a free feat.

What to expect

What Robin brings to the table

When I run the game, I give my players a premium experience by enriching my sessions with the following: - Voice Acting: I do my absolute best to give evocative and character-appropriate voices to pretty much all of the NPCs that you'll be interacting with. - Music: I make use of a discord bot that plays music during our sessions, and I try to constantly make sure whatever track is on is as fitting as it can be for the current scene. For pivotal boss fights, I usually pick out specific tracks days ahead of time. - I own all of the necessary digital tools on Roll20 that you'll need to make your 2014 5e character, in addition to a Roll20 Pro subscription that enhances our games with dynamic lighting and the occasional API script to smooth things out. - I try to make player-favoring rulings as often as I reasonably can. I want everyone to have fun at my table, so when I'm usually willing to let a rule or two bend here and there if adhering to it wouldn't really enrich the overall table's enjoyment. - I spend hours preparing and I'm dedicated to showing up every single week. Additionally, I make myself very available via DMs if my players ever have questions about my games in between sessions or just want to chat. - I change up the modules that I run with my own twists, quite a lot. I tend to add in all sorts of my own characters, magic items, monsters, and sometimes even entire dungeons.

Homebrew rules

There aren't any homebrew rules that I automatically place on any game without getting a consensus from my party, but here is a list of some potential homebrew rules/houserules that we'll be discussing during session 0: - Is fall damage capped at 200 feet? - Player Characters can enter a "helpless" state at 0 HP instead of becoming unconscious. - Spell Scrolls don't have any of their usual restrictions, anyone can cast a spell from a scroll. - Is flanking used? - When is initiative rolled? How do "surprise rounds" work? - Forgo thieves' tools checks for sleight of hand checks? - Are we using exhaustion? Does a PC gain exhaustion just from not sleeping? - Will we be using Take 10/Take 20? - Are we using EXP or milestones? If EXP, can characters gain EXP alone? - Are we using attunement for magic items, or something looser? Please let me know before or during our session 0 if there are any other houserules/homebrew rules that you'd like to be considered for the game :)

Safety

How Robin creates a safe table

I will privately ask all players to let me know if there are any specific themes or types of content that they are uncomfortable with, and I will make sure everyone else in the party is aware of what is off limits during our session 0 (which will not be charged as a session). Moreover, I build in halfway point breaks into my sessions and I like to take a few minutes at the end of every session to debrief and give players a chance to give feedback on the session without any fear of judgement or shame. I always strive to make sure that everyone at my table is comfortable and safe while having a good time!
