About the adventure
A text-based play-by-post of heroism, warfare, and cool spaceships at the dawn of the New Republic! Beginners welcome. LGBTQ+ inclusive. ---------- A few months ago, the Rebel Alliance destroyed the second Death Star, killing Emperor Palpatine and dealing a lethal blow to the Galactic Empire. Rebel leaders have declared the dawn of a new power in the galaxy: the New Republic, dedicated to restoring the ideals of peace, freedom, and democracy. But as the galaxy rises to throw off the Empire's oppression, the remaining forces of the Empire engage in a campaign of vengeance and destruction. Some loyalists carry out devastating final orders from Emperor Palpatine, while others race to consolidate power for themselves. As a new squadron of starfighter pilots, you will join the New Republic fleet and carry out missions to strike against the Imperial Imperial Remnant in tactical starship engagements and mass combats. Your successes and failures will affect the ongoing battle to free the Mid Rim from Imperial control. Write your story as a hero of the New Republic!

About me
I'm a long-time roleplayer and GM. I love running games and taking players through exciting story-driven adventures with cool moments and fun action while weaving in impactful moments for their characters. I'm a game designer by day and have worked on properties like Star Wars, Marvel, and Lord of the Rings, but I also love building new worlds to explore. I have written for RPG books for games like Star Wars, Genesys, Arkham Horror: The Roleplaying Game, the Power Rangers Roleplaying Game, and the Transformers Roleplaying Game. I play a lot of different RPGs and I'm always looking to try more. I'd love to share some adventures with you!

Creating your character
As daring New Republic starfighter pilots, your characters will take on the Imperial war machine, face overwhelming odds, and, hopefully, live long enough to get back home. You'll need all the skill, determination, and luck you can muster. Characters should be created using Age of Rebellion's character creation rules. Each character begins with 10 Duty, which can be traded for extra XP and/or credits as usual. You will also be assigned a Rebel fighter of your choice: A-Wing, B-Wing, X-Wing, or Y-Wing. -Character Concept- All characters should be pilots of the New Republic. They can be new recruits or experienced fighters of any background as long as they are invested in the struggle against the Galactic Empire. -Duty- Characters start with 10 Duty. You can choose any Duty or create your own. Duty may be traded for extra XP and/or credits as usual. -Species- Any official species is allowed. Homebrew species require GM approval. -Career- Any Age of Rebellion or Edge of the Empire career is allowed. Force & Destiny careers are NOT allowed. -Specialization- Any specialization from Age of Rebellion or Edge of the Empire is allowed. In addition, all characters gain the Recruit universal specialization for free. -Spending XP- You may spend your starting XP as usual. -Spending Starting Credits- You start with 500 credits. Any official item up to Rarity 6 (unrestricted) can be purchased for list price. Restricted items require GM approval. In addition, the New Republic will provide each pilot with a basic flight suit and blaster pistol. -Motivation- You can choose any official Motivation(s) or create your own. -Additional XP- As a veteran pilot, after completing your character, you earn 75 XP to spend how you wish.

Preparing for the session
Players will need a Discord account to join the game server and an RPG Sessions account for character sheets and dice rolling.
What Brandon brings to the table
I am a game designer who has written for TTRPGs like Star Wars, Genesys, Arkham Horror, and Transformers, and I'll be bringing that experience to this story. I will post a minimum of 5 times per week to keep the story moving along. During combat, I will provide maps and intel to keep the action exciting and dynamic. I will be using a few house rules and some custom encounter types to add to the tactical gameplay. Out of combat, I will write for the NPCs that support the squadron and the ongoing state of the war.
Homebrew rules
Starship combat will use a few homebrew rules in order to be more dynamic. Cinematic Damage: Starships and vehicles do not become crippled when their hull trauma exceeds their hull trauma threshold. Instead, whenever a starship or vehicle would suffer hull trauma exceeding their hull trauma threshold, it suffers a Critical Hit instead. (Starships and vehicles can still become crippled due to system strain.) Variable Encounter Types: The game will include some homebrew encounter types in addition to standard combat for action like chases, navigating difficult terrain, and attack runs on large ships/stations. These will be introduced during play.
