About the adventure
Enter the realm of Dungeon Crawler Carl, a world chewed up and spit out by intergalactic capitalism and television ratings. This is a place where many perish and few thrive. Can you survive with enough style that you draw the attention of audiences and sponsors, or will you quietly and methodically make your way through? The choice is up to you. Just be careful if you see any lava spitting llamas! This campaign is designed for players who want to be challenged, but also want to explore and try weird new things. All levels of player experience are welcome as well as it being LGBTQ+ friendly!

About me
I want to provide a safe and caring space for people to express themselves while also bonding with their friends. And hey, maybe we can make some new friends along the way. Heroes journey and whatnot. I have a few years of DMing experience under my belt with my games often being described as an "entertaining mix of roleplay and combat" as well as "a fever dream" and occasionally "are you ok?" New players are always welcome at my table and I in fact actively enjoy bringing new people into the community. This continues to hold true for people in the LGBTQ+ community. I am quite proud that people can view me as a safespace in gaming and in my personal life and I take that pride with much seriousness.

Creating your character
Hi all, I'm really excited to get started and play some games with you! Housekeeping information below! 1. Character Creation: Character creation and building happens during either session 0 (free) or during the buildup to session 1. I am able to be contacted on Discord to answer any and all questions you may have about it. The game starts at level 1. 2. The core dnd books are available to use, however, I do have a DCC pdf that provides content tuned more specifically towards this world and universe. The pdf will be included in the Discord server. 3. Stats are decided in my games by rolling 4d6 and dropping the lowest number. Do that 6 times and you have stats. Do it 6 more times and you have a second set of stats. Choose which column you prefer.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need access to: Discord Roll20 Once they have these I will include links to appropriate servers and locations.
What Zach brings to the table
- I love roleplay in my games both between individual players and between players and NPC's. That conversational flow is always such an intriguing and vital part of the experience to me. Can you get through this encounter without combat? If you look around enough and ask enough questions, the answer is almost always going to be yes! - I also love me some combat. Setting up an intense encounter with multiple variables and requirements for the players to come across while also fighting for their lives is AMAZING. And who knows? Maybe that chain devil that got away got a little stronger afterwards? Maybe you will have to deal with a new nemesis with a very personal and very robust beef. - You will rarely feel weak in my campaigns. That is not me saying that it will not be a challenge. But I personally would much rather you feel that you got bested by a powerful foe, rather than you got bested by being weak. We have weak every day of our lives. We play TTRPG's to be who we want to be. - I tend to lean into the "Rule of Cool". If the game or scenario has a rule that just feels clunky or unfun or convoluted and I or a player can think of a better solution, I will generally use that solution. Which means, if there is ever a scenario that doesn't feel fun, PLEASE tell me. I want this to go smoothly just like you do, and the way that happens is by working together towards that goal.
Homebrew rules
The way that I will generally run a game is to follow the rules as written until a better option is presented. I never want my players to feel hamstrung by the mechanics of the game.

Safety
How Zach creates a safe table
So this in particular is an incredibly important subject for me and I expect my players to have a healthy respect for it as well. The way I handle safety is like this: 1. During session 0 I will have players fill out a safety document so I get an idea of what is and is not ok for them at the table. These only come to me and will not be shared with the other players. 2. If something isn't sitting right with a player I encourage them to send me a message in the moment. I don't want someone to deal with something that makes them uncomfortable simply because they think it will be awkward. I will try to handle it smoothly, but I will never out the person who sent the message. 3. If something continues to not sit right after having messages, I would love to schedule some kind of 1 on 1 talk on Discord to better understand what isn't being tackled correctly and how I can improve on it in the future.
