About the adventure
Whether you new to D&D or a veteran of the game; if you're looking for a meaty and hellish campaign to roleplay and adventure in this might be for you! Using Adventurer's League rules you'll also be able to take the character you make in this game to conventions and games that also uses Adventurer's League. Join me in a 3-4 hour game of Descent Into Avernus where we'll take your character from city streets to the depths of the burning hells themselves. There's no rush! There will be time for roleplay, action, my bad voice acting and all that fun stuff. Right off the bat; I run an inclusive table. That means I expect my players, (and myself) at my table to be respectful and decent towards differing ethnicities, genders, romantic orientations or cultures.

About me
Hello! I'm Winston. I've been running 5th Edition D&D for over 5 years for Adventurer's League and also my own homebrew 5E game for the past 3 years. I also like playing other systems, some of my favourites being Feng Shui 2; Kids on Bikes and Gamma World, (yes, the old 4th Edition game). As an artist, I like drawing my own characters and I also create my own homebrew content. I'm also the author of 'Gloryanna: The First Volley'.

Creating your character
If you have the D&D app or using some easy-to-use builder, you probably won't need my help. But if you're a new player, we'll talk and I'll help you build something on a sheet or on Roll20. Or at the very least, help you understand what you're looking at. If you prefer just using the app or want to use a sheet and real dice, I use an honor system. Since it's an Adventurer's League game, we'll be using the standard array; averages for hit points and standard given equipment. Unless you have an AL character already, I expect everyone to be level 1. The game runs using the 2024 rules! If there's a subclass or player species found in the 2014 rules that's not in the 2024 rules yet, you can use the 2014 version of that instead, (ie. half-drow; some subclasses; artificers, etc...).
Players of all levels welcome! This is an Adventurer's League style game. That means when you finish this game, you can take your character to conventions and events that support Adventurer's League D&D games. Party makeup can be discussed among the players at the table when you're making your characters!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
A clear microphone and a good connection! Cameras aren't required. If you prefer to use one, I'll use mine as well. It really depends on everyone's comfort level. Have Discord installed! It's where we'll chat and share notes. Get a Roll20 account! It's where the game happens. If you're new to Adventurer's League, you can google Adventure's League for players. However, there shouldn't be any issues! I'll be here to explain and help if needed. Do you have enough money for groceries? Double check your schedule and your income. I want people to have a good time but I don't want them going broke because of it.
What DM Lewinston brings to the table
I will offer to draw your character portrait for a token! It'll be a black and white sketch. I will do some bad voice acting; there's ambient music in my roll20 playlist; there's some fighting, some talking. I do like to illustrate in words what's happening in a scene a lot, it helps me visualize things by speaking aloud. If an NPC is talking to a player, I expect people to try and enjoy that moment, let them have it. I try my best to make sure each character has involvement or interaction in the story and to make sure everyone has at least some investment in the world.

How DM Lewinston creates a safe table
Before hand, let me know what you don't want to see in the game and I'll will do my best to make sure it's avoided. This is basically session 0! If everything is cool, don't worry about it. Otherwise, session 0 is the place to let me know what's not cool. You can also leave me a message on discord if you can't make session 0 for a reason. If someone in the game does get upsetting, you can use the digital cards in the game. That will let me know to drop it immediately and I won't be revisiting it again. After the game ends, just let me know if everything went alright. If there's nothing to say, don't worry about it! But if there is something, like if there's a bit where you want me to change in the future, I'll keep a note of it. Either way, I just want everyone to have a good time. Lastly, be decent. I will take lengths to respect the boundaries and needs of players at my table. I expect other players to do the same.
