About the adventure
All adventurers have heard the tales and songs from the bards in the taverns. Every last one of them thinks the stories and songs are just that. But when a clue lands in your party's collective lap that could mean the stories and songs are based in truth, do you dare to risk the adventure of a lifetime to gain a king's fortune a hundred times over? What will it take to find the City of Gold? This is not a mini-campaign of only a handful of sessions. The duration of this campaign will be significant. How quickly the characters progress through the campaign is up to the players, not the DM. Any and all trigger warnings are potential and not a guarantee. They are listed just in case.

Meet the Game Master
About me
I have been a player and game master for several games for over 30 years. I have a home-brew background as well as a published TTRPG background. I tend to stick with older games, as I am often not fond of the newer versions. My style is partially scripted and partially off-the-cuff. I tend to be tough, but I always try to be fair. I'm not perfect and I do make mistakes. If I make one, let me know and I will rectify it. I have been know to chuck rules I don't like, or at least modify them (and make you know about them up front!) so that they are less unfavorable. I want my players to feel challenged, but still have fun. I prefer role-playing and not roll-playing. I am cool with new players and veterans. I stick to older editions of multiple games mainly because I actually prefer them over the newer editions as opposed to being too cheap to upgrade. That said, I am not above running a game in an edition I am not fond of, but I tend to charge more for it as the trade off.

Creating your character
Players who start the campaign will begin at 1st level. Should a player join the campaign later, the level they start at will be based on the average of what the rest of the party has achieved. Players are requested to keep their race and class fairly standard and not overly exotic. Please bear in mind that this game takes place in the Forgotten Realms world. That means races, classes, and deities not found in the FR campaign universe are disallowed without discussion. Players MUST create a character that can easily co-exist with an adventuring party. Characters that can't work well within a party framework won't be part of the campaign for long.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
This campaign will be conducted via Discord. Thus, players will be required to have a working microphone so that they can readily communicate with the other players and the DM. Additionally, players must also be willing and able to work with the rest of the players in a mature fashion. Players who go out of their way to be a disruptive presence will be removed from the campaign. That doesn't mean fun and shenanigans can't happen. It means a player's fun cannot be at the expense of another's.
What JP McClendon brings to the table
I have access to a variety of the 2nd. edition materials for on-the-spot reference. Additionally, as the DM, I will be creating all maps and various visuals in the Roll20 room.
Homebrew rules
There are numerous homebrew rules designed to benefit the players. The list isn't short, so it would be best to just go over them during character creation.

All listed trigger warnings are potential, but not a guarantee. At the end of each and every game session, players will be asked by the DM if there was anything found to be triggering or offensive to make sure that nothing occurred that might upset or offend. Obviously, if any content is triggering, it is not intentional. Also obviously, if a player is triggered by something they need not wait until the post-session wrap up to let me know.
