About the adventure

🐲 STILL EARLY IN THE GAME! See Current Party Composition Below! 🐲 🐲🐲🐲🐲🐲 You came to Waterdeep, the City of Splendors, to make your mark. What you found was the opportunity of a lifetime. A hidden fortune of gold coins, also called ”dragons” in the Forgotten Realms, lies buried beneath the city, and you are only one of many wishing to claim this so-called “dragon hoard” for their own. From crime lords to nobles to wizards, your rivals outnumber you. Some may become allies, others a threat to your very life. Whether you use combat prowess, cunning plans or the magical Weave itself, your life will depend on your ability to outwit, outlast and outplay your rivals in a perilous game. Waterdeep could consume you, leaving your story as just another tale told in the Yawning Portal, or you could pull off the heist of the century. Find out what the fates have in store for you. 🐲🐲🐲🐲🐲 🎇 I especially welcome beginners to D&D, LGBTQIA+ players, and neurodivergent players🎇, especially those that have had negative experiences at previous tables. Let me be a safe, fun space and atmosphere for you to truly enjoy playing again. This is a play-by-post (PbP) asynchronous adventure. Asynchronous games do not require more than one person to be online at the same time, and are played at the pace of those involved. Play-by-post allows you to be part of a Dungeon and Dragons adventure on your *own* time, when you may not have the time - or the life situation - to sit with a group each week. You simply post and then read the story as it evolves. There is a one post per 48 hours minimum that you will agree to when joining the group, although more is better. Once your gameplay has begun, you will be charged once weekly at the date/time shown for your gameplay, but as stated, gameplay can happen throughout that week at various times of the day, depending on your own activity level (There is a "session duration" listed but with PbP games the game runs continuously as people and the DM post) Your choices and decisions will change your surroundings - and your story - as it happens. So choose wisely, and choose well.

About me

I strive to be a place where players new and experienced can come and tell stories together in a safe, fun environment, and I have over 30 years of TTRPG experience that I use to bring these desires to the table. What I want for my players is simple; to have fun, however I am able to provide that to them. I espeically want players who have had bad table experiences in the past or players who have struggled with neurodiversity issues to find their TTRPG "home" with me. I like to joke that my DM/GM aesthetic is "dad jokes and innuendo", but I also strive to make the experience as immersive as the players wish it to be/are able to process. It is my sincerest wish that we start as clients, but end up friends, whether it's a one-shot or a campaign. I look forward to sharing a table with you soon.

Character creation

Creating your character

CURRENT PARTY COMPOSITION: Human Fighter Human Warlock Half-Elf Cleric You will create your characters on D&D Beyond using the 2024 Character Creation rules, and they will be linked to the Discord server using Avrae. Characters to be created individually (with some discussion in Discord for coordination)

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need access to Discord and D&D Beyond on any device. Most laptops and phones will run these apps. I will be using Roll20 to organize maps and tokens, and players can either access Roll20 directly or maps will be posted in game to determine positioning.

What Shawn (aka Fluffy) brings to the table

I provide the story for you to experience and immerse yourself in, first and foremost. Although we will be playing through a Wizards of the Coast official module, there will be adaptations and changes to the original as-written story as well as my own additions, so even if you have played the module before, there are new things on the horizon. The game is primarily played in Discord, with characters created on D&D Beyond and tactical map displays through Roll20. In Discord, we will be using the apps Avrae (for DDB integration) and Tupperbox (primarily for the GM to play all of those NPCs)

Homebrew rules

Potions consumed as a bonus action will roll for effectiveness, while potions consumed as an action will automatically heal for maximum.

How Shawn (aka Fluffy) creates a safe table

We will discuss lines and veils as you join the game, and the "Session 0" may happen in text or in one-on-one voice chat. We can talk about anything that may affect you emotionally within the game in OOC chat or one-on-one voice chat. We will also use Stars and Wishes for you to provide me feedback about what you enjoy about the game and what you would like to see more of.
