About the adventure

A group of four to five players will take the part of boot to junior colonial marines sent to replace losses, freshly warmed up on the frontier of space. A warming cold war, mysterious rumors, missing colonies, corporate interests, and fresh orders. Expect to embark on a number of missions and use tactics and communication to survive and learn more about the happenings on the frontier, making difficult decisions along the way. The curious, the experienced, anywhere in between are all welcome. This campaign is great for teaching the Alien RPG. It takes place fully in the Alien movies universe and fully embraces the retro future 80's action horror mystery feeling. Danger will be present much of the time and if combat happens it can be deadly. The campaign is set up to be conducive to adding new characters should death occur.

About me

I have been playing RPG's for almost 25 years and I started GM'ing about 20 years ago (which I found I preferred). I entered RPG's through D&D, like many others before me and while I still run Fantasy Medieval like D&D, I spend a lot more time running Sci-Fi and Horror games. Online, I go by Kain. I'm an east coast US citizen, work took me up and down the coast over the years. While gaming has been a consistent part of my life and I have found transitioning some of the gaming groups I was with to online to be a very comfortable process. I've also found the story telling medium to be a great way to share perspectives and ideas in a non threatening, non debate, medium with mature players.

Character creation

Creating your character

Come with ideas, a character already made, or with no idea at all! The party and characters will be made/updated during session 0, where I can answer questions to help set the party up for success and coordination during creation.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A Discord account will be needed for voice. I use Foundry, so no downloads or accounts are needed there. Rules and resources will be imbedded in Foundry.

What Kain brings to the table

Rules as Written is the standard, narrative rewards for great roleplay or creative applications will certainly trigger rule of cool. Combat is very dangerous - good teamwork and in character communication will be vital.

Safety

How Kain creates a safe table

During session 0, we will discuss as a group potentially difficult content and collectively agree on what content will be automatically fade to blacked and only implied. We will also discuss and agree on the standard options that will be available and respected by all for anyone to exercise for their own safety pauses in play. A standard message will be made available for all players to use mid session to signal that a debrief has been requested that will be agreed upon to be respected, regardless of how many requests for it are made. Debriefs can be done collectively or one on one.
