About me

I have been a Games Master since the mid-1980s, during which time I have run numerous different RPGs and rule systems. I like systems that are smooth, quick to learn, and easy to play while still feeling polished and fleshed out. I have written RPG material professionally for the AGE Creator's Alliance, Frightshow Classics and my own indi RPG company "Gethsemane Games". My games aim to promote a sense of wonder in fantasy and run the gamut from whimsical to dark often drawing on European folklore and Fairytail elements to imerse my players in fantastic adventures they will remember for years to come.

Creating your character

Pregenerated characters will be provided, players may add details such as gender, personality, age and appearance. Please join the Discord Server at least one hour before the game is due to begin.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

This game will be played on Roll20. You will ned a Roll 20 account and a Mic. Roll 20 is best when used on a computer (desktop or laptop) rather than a mobile device. Therefore, I advise you to have access to a laptop or desktop PC for this game. We will use Discord for the audio chat, so you will need a Discord account to play this game. You do not need to know the rules of the Entropy Effect; you will learn them as you play. A selection of pre-generated characters will be provided, you may choose one and flesh out details such as name, gender and age.

What Bryan F Irving brings to the table

The Entropy Effect is a reality-bending modern Sci-Fi Horror. It is heavy on mystery and exploration. Combat is fast and lethal. I will provide detailed and beautiful battle maps, appropriate tokens, my 4 decades of experience and a tendency to play rulings over strict RAW. If you have a good idea that feels like it should have a chance of working, then you will be able to try. As one of the co-authors of Entropy Effect, I bring a good understanding of the rules and the game's themes. The game will include a number of useful handouts for you to reference in play and the character sheets will include rolable skill and attribute checks that will calculate your margin of success for you, allowing you to concentrate on your character's actions and the narrative element of your play while letting the character sheet handle most of the maths.

Safety

How Bryan F Irving creates a safe table

We will be using a digital X card, but players are also encouraged to whisper to the GM via the Roll20 chat if they prefer. Lines and Veils, as well as the code of conduct, will be provided in the Discord text chat. If you have any phobias that may be triggered by description or depiction (spiders, snakes or so on), please let the GM know. If they would have appeared in the game, the GM would substitute something you are more comfortable with.
