About the adventure

This game is set in the Old World of the Warhammer system, using the brand new Warhammer Old World Roleplaying system. We will start with a Grim Portent where you gain the attention of a powerful foe. Perhaps you have stumbled across a secret so dangerous that its architects will stop at nothing to silence you. You may have unintentionally disrupted an intricate plot simply by learning of its existence. Or you may simply have seen too much to be allowed to live. From there, you will go on to face perilous foes, defeat deadly danger, gain powerful magic to wield against the enemy - and likely accumulate an assortment of scars and injuries to prove your heroism to anyone who sees you! For there are terrors in the shadows. Dark plots. Things that must go about their fell work in secrecy, for they know their hour, though close, has not yet come. Some are abominations so terrible that most cannot bring themselves to recognise them for what they are. Others are cunning beasts or corrupted men and women who wear false smiles and tend their secrets with care. Some secrets cannot be learned, however, without them learning something of you in return, and you are one of an unfortunate few to have stumbled into the plans of monsters. Drawn into a web of horrors, you are yourselves marked, never to return to the quiet comforts of an ignorant life. You must resist this fate, for if you cannot overcome it you will never know peace, save that offered by the cold earth of Morr’s graveyards. The Old World is closer to annihilation than any realise. In the midst of what some would name a gilded age, the once-mighty Empire has grown fractured, riven by internal divisions. It looks inward and concerns itself with petty politics, its nobles distracted by the pursuit of personal grandeur. To its north, beyond the Sea of Claws, an unknown power grows — one that will soon threaten the entire civilised world. Servants of these Ruinous Powers grow daily in strength and depravity alike. For now the will of their dark masters can be heard as little more than a whisper. It will not remain so for long. Day by day, night by night, the festering servants of evil grow more daring. By the forsaken light of Morrslieb they praise their nameless gods. Ferocious Beastmen, the true children of Chaos, prowl the woods in ever greater numbers. Orcs and Goblins grow bold once more, spurred on by urges they barely understand and lack the wit to question. Vampires, who some think were driven far from the borders of the Empire, linger still. The cursed blood of Lahmia flows in the veins of more than one secretive noble or bloodthirsty warrior, and their dark hunger is slaked on those whom none will miss. You are based in Talagaad, a river port town on the edge of Talabheim. You have contacts from whom you can gain important information, clues and help, as well as certain assets you can draw on. Those small things, and you and your allies, are all that stand against the darkness...

About me

I've been running roleplaying games since 1980. I'm new-ish to hosting games on-line, but what I may lack in technical expertise on the platform I hope to make up for in enthusiasm and making it fun for you! I play "rule of cool" and I look forward to roleplay with you!

Character creation

Creating your character

First game is free. We'll do character creation together over Discord. You start as beginning characters in this new system. The Old World System is not quite as deadly as traditional Warhammer, and starting characters are slightly less "squishy". They each have cool, unique talents!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

No preparation required. I will send you a discord link to my server when you join the game. If you have a copy of the new Warhammer: the Old World Roleplaying Games, that's what we'll be using. Please only read the Player's Guide!

What Swords and Sorcery brings to the table

I am a Rule of Cool GM. This game system is brand new, and less detailed than previous Warhammer games. Describe what your character wants to do and let's play it! I do some character voices, and will provide pictures of scenes and characters on discord or on Foundry, and battlemaps where needed. I will craft a detailed plot-line full of adventure and colour consistent with the danger and corruption of the Warhammer world. I will bring detailed descriptions of the dark places you go, the colourful characters you meet, the vile enemies and evil villains and dreadful monsters you encounter and battle desperately and slay heroically.

Homebrew rules

No homebrew rules planned at this time but we may tweak these brand new rules if we need to!

How Swords and Sorcery creates a safe table

We'll cover any concerns about content during our character creation session, and I'll provide a lines and veils checklist you can fill in. I have an X-card on Foundry as well, if needed to flag something that arises in-game.
