About the adventure

Welcome to Obojima, a world of whimsy, wonder, and spirits that blur the line between the everyday and the extraordinary. Here, you might sip tea brewed from talking leaves, ride upon the back of a Stone Whale soaring through the skies, or find yourself face-to-face with a mischievous fox spirit who wants nothing more than to trade riddles for secrets. In Songs of Sea and Sky, you begin your journey as travelers among the clouds, carried across the island on the back of a majestic Stone Whale. But when tragedy strikes and the great beast falls, you and your companions will be drawn into mysteries that ripple across Obojima. Was the Whale felled in cruelty, mercy, or something stranger still? And what deeper forces are stirring in the sea and sky? This campaign blends slice-of-life roleplay, whimsical exploration, and an unfolding mystery. You’ll have space to build meaningful characters, explore cozy towns and strange ruins, and discover the island’s hidden songs. Expect moments of humor and heart alongside encounters with corrupted spirits, lost history, and choices that will shape Obojima’s future. Whether you are brand new to D&D or a seasoned adventurer, this game welcomes you. I focus on collaborative storytelling, character-driven arcs, and player choice. Rules are important, but the “rule of cool” and the magic of Obojima always come first. If you’re looking for a campaign that feels like stepping into a whimsical anime or Ghibli-style adventure—full of wonder, danger, and discovery—then join me as we sing the Songs of Sea and Sky together.

About me

As a passionate Dungeon Master with experience starting from 2017, I have cultivated a unique approach to running D&D 5e games that emphasizes collaboration, storytelling, and fun. I started my journey as a player in 2016, which has shaped my understanding of the game from both perspectives. I strive to create an epic fantasy atmosphere in my campaigns, often incorporating themes of "animals as humanoids," inspired by sources like Humblewood by Hit Point Press. My style leans RAI ("Rules As Intended") when clarifying spells and features. I prioritize story over mechanics, fostering player engagement through character voices and rich NPC backgrounds. I encourage my players to contribute creatively to the narrative, setting boundaries only when necessary to maintain game balance. I primarily run pre-written modules, customizing elements to suit my audience. I understand the importance of adapting themes and ensuring appropriateness for younger aged groups. My method of engagement includes weaving player backgrounds into the story and providing a flexible environment that celebrates creative ideas. Challenges such as guiding inexperienced players in understanding the rules have led me to listen closely to their intentions, offering suggestions and teaching core mechanics as needed. My favorite moments as both a player and a GM highlight the unpredictable and thrilling nature of D&D, showcasing the joy of unexpected successes and creative problem-solving. I use tools like Roll20 and AlchemyRPG to enhance my games, utilizing gridded maps, digital handouts, and immersive sound effects and music to create memorable experiences. With experience running games for a diverse range of players, including children and adults, I aim to foster a welcoming environment for all. As a parent of two young children, my time is precious, and I strive to make every game session E.P.I.C.: Enticing players, presenting compelling problems, engaging them with interactivity, and uncovering the consequences of their choices. I am committed to creating unforgettable adventures that inspire creativity and foster camaraderie around the table.

Character creation

Creating your character

🎲 Level: 2nd Level character (D&D 5E) 🌤 Age: Between 13 and 25 years old Younger characters (13–16) might be apprentices, dreamers, or first-time travelers. Mid-range (17–20) are young adults stepping into responsibility. Older (21–25) are emerging leaders, caretakers, or early mentors. 🪶 Background: You were raised among the Stone Whales, great living beings that soar through the skies and swim the oceans of Obojima. Your community has just established a new home on a young Whale, still learning to find its balance in the clouds. 💞 Relationships: Name at least one person (friend, parent, sibling, or mentor) your character deeply cares about. Think about why they matter to you—this connection may shape who you become. 🎒 Personality Prompt: What are you most excited—or afraid—to find in this new beginning? What did you leave behind when you boarded the new Whale?
