About the adventure
On a winding rustic road in the backwoods of Vermont, a car shudders to a halt. You, the driver, are certain you filled the gas tank before you left, still, the needle is pointing to Empty. Above the tree-line, a bank of storm clouds is building, and in the distance, thunder rumbles. A look at the map says the next town is five hours away on foot. Your watch shows the time at half past 3. It's October. Soon, night will fall. If you strike out on foot, you'll find yourself drenched in cold autumn rain in a dark, unfamiliar wood. But up on a hill, maybe two hundred yards off, a driveway leads to a manor house. The lights inside are on. Maybe they can help.... "The Saturnine Chalice" is a Call of Cthulhu 7e scenario that typically takes two game sessions to complete. For the purposes of this charity event, I've rewritten a little of it to shorten it down. It's suited to between 2-5 investigators. As an investigation-heavy, low-combat scenario, it is great for newcomers to the system. But veterans are welcome too! Everyone is free to try their luck and probe the mystery of the Weyland house.

About me
I have always loved to tell stories! In fact, it's what I went to school for. I was a film major and an English minor, with emphasis on screen writing and creative writing. When my husband, then my boyfriend, introduced me to ttrpgs, it was a Starfinder 1e game--clunky, not super great for total beginners, but what a blast! Then D&D 5e came to town, and that was the main game for us, until recently, when we've started branching out. That was almost 7 years ago. Since then, I've DMd two full D&D 5e campaigns, and my homebrew campaign is currently on a hiatus so I can write the next chapter. I'm also prepping two Call of Cthulhu published campaigns. Recently, I discovered Cairn, and in just one game, which I wrote, geared toward total newcomers to the system, both of my home groups have fallen in love and asked for more. I love creating stories for characters to inhabit--it literally makes me happier than almost anything in the world. Writing and storytelling is my passion, and ttrpgs feel like home.

Preparing for the session
Discord, Roll20
What Amanda brings to the table
I'll have ambient music and maybe do some voices! There will be an ice breaker question ready for you when you arrive in either the vtt lobby or the voice call lobby, as well as safety tools for your review. Once the scenario starts, I'll keep it fast-paced and won't let there be too much dead air time. We'll also take a break partway through for whatever we need to do or get. At the end, if we're not done, we'll set up a time to finish it off. We will be using Discord for voice/video and Roll20 for the vtt. You might find it handy to have a pen and paper in case you want to take any notes on the investigation.

How Amanda creates a safe table
I'll put a lines and veils survey into the discord a few days before the session. During the game, we will utilize X cards. You can either type it into chat or use a motion, if you'll be using video. We will go through all of that again at the top of the session so that we're all on the same page. It should be noted that the content warnings are for things that COULD happen in the game. Some of them will. Many won't. Know yourself, take care of yourself, and if you think this scenario might not be for you, that's okay! I hope to see you at the next one.
